Ibanez 430S II 1990

Well did get this baby the other day.
Ever since 87/88 where I tried one S model, in a now long gone store( a red one with Edge floyd and HSH configuration)
have I wanted one....dunno why it took me this long, have been through a trillion Fender/Tokai/ESP/Navigator/Squier/Fernandez/Chandler/FenderCS/Ibanez/Rockinger/Mighty Mite...and so on...
Am selling the last Fenders I have, the only two electrics I have left that I use are my two Ibanez guitars.
Oh plus the neckless RS135 Ibanez....sorwy!

Besides the acoustics have yanked me out of a serious rut I was in, they keep inspiring me.
Yeah I know...it is "just" an Ibanez ;)
Who cares?
Pictures and a little clip!

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

Nice lookin and sounding guitar you got there. Congrats! Nice playing by the way. Which PU combo/position did you use the most on that clip?

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

Seeing that black beauty with white pups and listening your track (btw, impressive playing and great sound!) somehow gave me an instant Gilmour vibe.

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

I had one of those in a cream/off-white color. Friggin' awesome guitars and I loved the SSS layout on an Ibanez "S" series. Almost regret selling it...almost ;)

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

I have two of those. I don't like the skinny neck, so one has an older Ibanez Proline neck on it with Ebony board. Here's the kicker: That guitar is sooooo light that it actually throws off the neck/body balance to have a heavier neck on it. LOL. So when I got the other one I left the stock neck on it. Congrats!

I also liked the all white one, and have delusions that one day I'll find the time to paint one of mine white.

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

^^ Frank, do you have a PL2660? Stupid question, you've probably got one in each colour ;).

The only S I've played was a MIK 470, and it was kinda average (predictably), yet to play a MIJ one. Wizard necks keep me away though.

Righteous playing and tones as always, Niels :). It's kinda cool that these still have the old school sticker on the back denoting the model number.

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

So nice. 3 singles is a rad look on a sabre.

Welcome to the sabre club. They are almighty warriors.

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

Thanks guys :)
Hehe yeah it is light and thin.....took me a day or so to get used to the skinny skinny skinny and skinny neck......but worked my way around it and found it to be quite comfy now!
Mostly used the neck and bridge pickup, at the end I go through all of the pickups, including using the Tele option:)
Hehe the tracks name is Gilmour jam ;)
Frank do you know what vibrato arm I can get for it???
Being this boards resident Ibanez nut :D
I need to get the hex screw out as well, someone must have screwed it in wrong sometime ago.....oh well 24 years cannot go without any dammage!

I did that mik blue sabre with all the graphtech midi gear. It was a great player, ''almost'' as good as my mij s.

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

No I have a few prolines, including a PL1770 and PL2550, and other hybrid mutts out of old Proline carcasses. I'm not a V guy.

Mm, I do love my 1770. I'd like an 1880 too (theres two on eBay now, maple and walnut) but can't swing it at the moment.

Yeah, I remember. The one I played had INF pups and a Lo TRS II, which also didn't do it any favours :P.

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

I think I'll hunt down a PL or first gen Edge Roadstar the next time.
My first electric was a meek RS135 from the comet series, red with a mapleneck.
Only guitar I really regretted selling!

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

How is that super thin body working out for you? Tried an S once but the body felt so thin as if I was hugging a piece of plywood.

Re: Ibanez 430S II 1990

Comfy....I just resetted my mind and started to look for the advantages it gives.
I found myself relaxing alot on this one, after one day of getting used to it.
I do not have small hands, nor short fingers, after awhile I just adjusted to it, very ergonomic and light.
Could not used this when I was starting out, but it makes alot of sense to me now.
Even my notorious sore thumb is feeling better.
Guess I can use it without trouble.
And love the sound it has...very snappy and kinda oldschoolish...has that whip and juice I like.
I can even rest my arm behind the bridge for different picking...and my left wrist is also more straight now.....
Odd experience...haha
