I hear ya... no shredding here myself, but my RG just FEELS good. I find that I really enjoy the thin neck. Those pickups sound great in yours too. Mine's a lesser model, but after replacing the stock V7/V8 pups it finally sounds great to go along with the way it plays.

Mine has the stock two S1 single coils, and a V2 humbucker.
Those I love.
I had a pair V1 and V2 lying around from some other old Ibanez guitars I used to have..
Installed those in my 540R HH, it used to have a pair of Wilde L-500's that I actually like a lot, but I thought that the Ibanez sound was gone.
So instead of the org IBZ F1's that I don't like, those got replaced by the L-500's.
I installed the V1 and V2 the other day, suited the guitar to a T.
They are late 80's ones.
