Re: Ibanez RG 2550E

if you are not too particular about a pickguard, the 2570/ 1570 are ones to check out too...

Re: Ibanez RG 2550E

no i don´t have a deal with pickguards... in fact if it looks good i dig it...
but i´m interested in feedback... tone? options?

Re: Ibanez RG 2550E

if you are gonna swap the default pickups, do give the 1570 a consideration as it goes for le$$- you won't miss the V pickups in there.

Re: Ibanez RG 2550E

well yesterday morning i went to the store and tried it lla morning... with an spider II 50wtt it sounded great the pups have great output, if i do buy it i wont change them... for god sake they´re dimarzio!!! ibz dimarzio but still... the neck felt ok, my teacher has a RG550 which has a thinner neck, or am i wrong? that axe is from the 90´s

IBZ Dimarzio and "normal" DiMarzio are not going to be extremely similar. They might still sound good to you, but they'll be sort of like Duncan Designed pickups... close but not quite.

Re: Ibanez RG 2550E

yes- the Super Wizard neck of the RG550 was the thinnest Ibanez has to offer, it's discontinued WEF 2005.

i'm indifferent towards the Dimarzio IBZ pickups in my SA2020, as long as they sound good with my amp (they currently do), they are for keeps.

i nearly bought the 2550, in fact. but since i was gonna swap the pickups to Duncan + i like the maple fretboard better, i bought the 1550 instead.

they're not quite Duncan Designed either, a special edition for Ibanez more like it. akin to what Duncan does for the SZ2020: Seymour Duncan IBZ pickups.

duncan designed = made overseas

IBZ Dimarzio = made in NY @ the Dimarzio factory

big difference. I love my IBZUSA F1's and F2's

Re: Ibanez RG 2550E

i have duncan´s and let me tell you that the designed versions are crap... they´re better than the normal korean and chinese pups but still...
i wonder why they discontinued that neck? it rocked big time
