Ibanez SA160

Anyone having one of those??
Just bought an old 87 RG135 body as well(Basswood)....and I always wanted one of those Sabers..
Have loved that sound of most of them that I have tried....
No worries about pickups...I have plenty to load that one up if the stocks really puts me off....
And it is not very expensive either....hehe I think that I will get it, love that quilt.

Re: Ibanez SA160

I really love the S and JS series body styles. I'm not sure what kind of quality to expect from the 1xx series stuff, or what body woods they'll be.

Re: Ibanez SA160

It is a mahogany body with a maplecap....:)
Even the Korean ones are quite good!
Well my Wolfgang is an good example of that.
Just changed pickups and the Floyd, no need for hardware change on this one though, maybe just other pickups!

Re: Ibanez SA160

i have a personal liking for the SA models. the SA160 guitars i tried were all good playing, good sounding guitars. nevermind the korean origin...

Re: Ibanez SA160

Another vote for the SA series. I picked up a low-end sa120 (Indonesian!) from a forum bro a few months back, and I love it. A little more comfortable to sit down with than the wafer-shaped S series, resonant, and solid-feeling. I particularly like the neck profile on the SA's. It's closer to the JS series or a thin Strat neck; comfortable yet fast.

Mine's not nearly that nice looking; if the price is right, that looks like a great guitar to me.

Re: Ibanez SA160

I have a RG Prestige but man I could bite my ass why I didn't go for a S-Serie..I want a Ibanez SA260FM..am I crazy?

Rid, that's one fine guitar

Re: Ibanez SA160

I am going to pick it up today:)
Nice weekend for me:D
Two Ibby's in 14 days...:bigok:
Now I just need to get a good neck for the RG135, I am going to stuff a Tele single coil in the RG, and the SA160....well something will show up in the collection!

Re: Ibanez SA160

But that quilt is a veneer bro.
I know;)
And I do not like maple caps much either.....I got it for the mahogany body:D
I am almost done setting it up, I am shaving that neck alot...hehe
Well the tuners will have to go, all the laquer on the neck will get lost as well!
The offensive graphite nut will go too....hate those!
The fiveway switch will also die when I get my hands on a suitable replacement!
Took out the pickups...
One APS-1 in the neck, nothing in the middle right now, and I tried it with my Demon, it was ok, now I am trying it with my Fender Atomic with an A2 magnet...more hot, I am going to get something else for this one!
It is not as nicely made as my old MIJ RG135, but the sound makes up for it, I knew that I would have to work on this one;)
And trem stay well in tune!

Re: Ibanez SA160

Haha keep your stinking extramuchgain for yourself;)
It will get a JB or a Hotstuff:D
It already has two APS-1's that sounds rather well in that one, I have reshaped the neck now....it will get further small adjustments later on, now it has the feel I like...it has turned out rather nice until now!
