Ibanez sabre with midi graphtech ghost system.

Re: Ibanez sabre with midi graphtech ghost system.

Dunno, since string bends on most synth patches sound terrible. Tapping on guitar synth sounds like a terrible keyboard player practicing finger exercises. Guitar synth works well playing live (even older systems) if you don't think like a guitarist. You have to study other instruments, or make up your own, but don't use guitar techniques, because for the most part, they sound awful on guitar synth. Your technique should be really really good, and if not, it will mis-track. Any system (internal or external) can be made to track well, but you have to combine tweaking the pickup itself, the midi interface, and the synth itself and combine that with pretty flawless playing technique.

have you used a ghost setup with a axon 100? I am not new to this either i have had some experience just so you know. I do understand what your saying but i dont think its the case on all sounds maybe keyboard or piono style stuff. If your using synth lead sounds like sawtooth etc you can get some wicked tapping/bends etc.

I was really looking for just some opinions on the mods i have done not on the whole debate of synths and playing technique.

Wow, I will say it is amazing that you were able to fit all of that into a Saber body. Looks like a nice conversion.

I haven't tried a guitar-to-MIDI converter in many years (mid '90s Roland and Yamaha stuff) but it sounds like the latency is getting much better. This can be a really fun way to control an analog synth.

Thanks, it was a bit of a squeeze in the sabre. Analog synths ftw

Re: Ibanez sabre with midi graphtech ghost system.

FYI, The Fishman Triple Play will provide wireless hex output to a computer, to trigger VST instruments, and will be available soon. Cheaper than pickup/guitar/converter/synth setup.

... :eek2: I threw my money at the screen, but nothing happened....

WANT VERY MUCH BADLY.

Man this thread is a year old. the midi sabre rules and it always will. I tried the fisherman and its good but i prefer the ghost.

Re: Ibanez sabre with midi graphtech ghost system.

The wireless convenience and not needing the extra hardware is what makes it for me.

Have you got one?

The midi sabre isn't mine i just modded it or a friend i use to have. It sure is a great player and it tracks incredibly well. I would love to build one for myself but yeah like mincer said its a big investment.

Damn i did a good job even if i say so myself. It was one hell of a job working out how to fit all that crap in that tiny body.

Not yet.

I like that I can put it on any guitar I want, instead of being stuck with just one.
I like that the hardware requirements are as minimal as it can get.
I like not having to perform surgery on that one guitar the GraphTech system would go into - it's the first one I ever built.
I do not intend to perform with it, simply record notation into Notion, and it works for that.
Wireless(!!!!!).

And at $400, it's roughly half the price of the $270 Graphtech system + an Axon-100 (used ~$500, give or take).

Re: Ibanez sabre with midi graphtech ghost system.

Sounds like a whole lot of fun. I don't know the first thing about midi ..the closest I've come to that synthy sound is a long-time fascination with Pitch-shifters/ Harmonizers..

One of the solo's I just did on my bands upcoming ep sounds like a ****ing arcade game from the 80's ....so cheesy I had my band-mates up in arms about it haha...stood my ground though, it's staying on there :D

Have you tried one personally? None of your benefits have nothing to do with how it plays more just looks and function.

Watched the Sweetwater video on the TRiplePlay, and watched a video instructing how to install the GraphTech system (plus the upthread video on the GraphTech).

I don't doubt that the Graphtech system works great, it's just more than I can justify spending for a sometime tool, after you buy everything.

Re: Ibanez sabre with midi graphtech ghost system.

I know i am pretty much the only one replying to my own thread here....Watch this demo

Wow, now that's one impressive system I must say.;) I have a Roland MIDI for one of my guitars and I'm very happy with how it performs, but this system is quite the improvement, especially when you don't notice it on the guitar.:) It sounds very natural and responsive...I love the split sounds and you can even get different sounds depending on where you pick on the string. That is versatile indeed. I think this takes guitar playing to a whole new level and when you learn to use it properly, you can literally sound like a one man band or a one man orchestra.:eyecrazy: I can see myself having fun with this sytem for hours upon hours. That was a good video. You also did a good job on your Sabre. It bet it was quite the challenge dealing with such a thin body. I believe that's the same guitar in your signature?:scratchch
