Re: If you could have ONE player's tone, who would it be?
I really can't decide, but I think it would be the tone of Justin Hawkins, though I prefer my own tone (doug aldrich-justin hawkins-kossoff I suppose? )
Re: If you could have ONE player's tone, who would it be?
"Faith-Hope-Love"/"King's X"-era Ty Tabor tone; open twangy clean tone, thick bright crunchy rhythm tone, and a singing lead tone with bite. The ultimate...
Re: If you could have ONE player's tone, who would it be?
Rules are boundries, I'll not apply boundries to my tone......I like EVH's tone and style, as well as Santana and SRV. I like to mix the three for my own amusement.
Re: If you could have ONE player's tone, who would it be?
I like Zappa's live tone from 75 or 76 through 82 when he was rocking the SG, the hendrix strat, and the Les Paul live. That to me is the tone i'd LOVe to have.
i read somewhere that all the rhythms on the ammott-era carcass albums were all bill steer, and ammott just threw on solos. dunno if its true though. at any rate, i prefer stoner rock to death metal anyhow. carcass has some pretty awesome tones though
Re: If you could have ONE player's tone, who would it be?
Mine, even though it's not the best, I know what I want. If I had a bit more money and a bit more skill I could get an amazing tone. You hear this all the time but I can make pretty much any decent amp sound good, it's all in the fingers.
If I have to choose one tone... Kim Simmonds from Savoy Brown
Re: If you could have ONE player's tone, who would it be?
There are so many. But i'd take Hetfield's live tone. Godly.
And yeah, Mustaine's tone on Endgame is ferocious too.
For non-metal stuff.......man I don't know there are just so many different styles i'm having a hard time coming up with just one. Alex Lifeson or Brian May perhaps?
