I would walk right past a MIM Standard Tele for the Squire 50's.
I am serious! I will stand by that all day long!
i went to check on that 60's Vibe Squier strat today... no bag included... still they did a great job on it... i'm sure the teles must be great too... this strat has an amazing fret job on it for a Squier... i still can't get passed how great the neck feels..
i walked out before i bought it....
the alder body is well done... if they used Veneer on the top and back i can't see it... they didn't hide the tummy cut with black paint on this sunburst... if i do turn around and buy it i have some trems in the basement that would be an improvement over the stock trem... but even with the stock trem it was not going out of tune with bar use today!!!!
You know you want it.. Go back tommorrow and do us proud!!
Yeah, I hate to sound like a fanboy weenie, but epi and squier have turned things up a notch lately.
When guitar world did a review of the vintage moderns they reviewed them favorably. Only negative was the tuning keys. Ive not had any issues with mine..
True.. BUT..
1) In my case I felt this particular Squier played better than the Standard. I compared to a bunch of diff Teles, even a couple of $500-700 models. They werent that much better than this Squier, IMO
2) Im not big on Teles ( wasnt till I got this one), so I didnt want to spend that extra hundred. Especially when I didnt need to.
3) The hundred I saved funded pup upgrade (which I would have also done with the standard
4) I liked the control layout and pickup configuration of this Squier model better. I get ALOT of use out of the neck mini bucker.
So it was win win.. I wont have the resale, but Im not looking to sell it..

I dont have pics yet.....the camera was dead with no spare batteries.(I will buy some today and get those stinking pics!) I was plucking around last night while surfing the web on and off and decided to open iMovie and hit record. I just played the same thing over and over so you'd get an idea of what the guitar sounds like plugged directly into the Lux.
Yeah..I suck! So what!

It'll be sold in 4 months time....lol
.........The new Squire Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster. I got mine in Monday and for $299 I really don't think you can beat it. At a distance it looks like an old 50's Blackguard era Tele. Even up close it looks like one until you see the Squire label on the headstock. In short, if you want to try a Tele, but dont want to spend a lot, you would be doing yourself a huge favor by grabbing one of these.
I will post pictures soon, but below are a few of the options these have. I promise if someone were to have blind folded me and handed me this guitar and said it was MIA, I would have had NO problem believing them. Fit, finish and frets are all spot on too which was a surprise. I LOVE it! PUPs aren't bad either! (Still needs a set of Antiquity IIs though!)

edit:
DISCLAIMER
No disrespect or ill will intended to the original poster or to anyone who thinks Teles are cool, I never did understand their appeal, they do indeed sound twangy if your into that sort of thing.
I have seen some hobbiests build guitar bodies from pine and never heard the result.Im suprised to see that squire used pine in produtction, but hey they use plywood also...hmm then again I had a Mahogany laminate(plywood) rich bich copy guitar that i played in a garage band for 2 years, it looked incredible and sounded OK .....so i was gonna say atleast it aint plywood, but ply would sound warmer and teles sound well...twangy and plunky so....hmmm what was my point? oh yeh...
Pine body? (attached to a $300 price tag) are u freakin kidding me????
