True dat! I have three Les Pauls, and each is a very different guitar.
And, although I don't count it as a Les Paul because his "signature" isn't on the headstock, the full model name of this'un is actually a " Les Paul Melody Maker," which takes things even further afield:

I do own an Eric Johnson sig strat, and use it exclusively in my wedding band.
Other ones i badly want: John Petrucci music man (the new model). Steve Vai Jem. SRV fender strat. Clapton strat. Brian may. Santana PRS!!!

I own two very early EC Strats. When they first came out (1987 i think) i was interested in the electronics so I went down to my local Sam ash to try one out. The electronics are very cool but what really sold me on the guitar was the neck. I played about 5 different ones that day and bought my blackie. About a year later I found a metal flake green one and I bought that one too. My black one is my #1. It's a smokin good guitar. It has been refretted since I bought it(I blew through those whimsy vintage frets in like 2 years) as well as the green one. Great guitar and they both play really well. I have always wanted to get my hands on a Buddy Guy Strat but have never been able to find one.
The new ones just don't do it for me. The pickups sound lifeless. Those old Gold Lace Sensors Sound so much better

While not an RG-Prime, I did have one of the "affordable" versions of that model. Great player. Neck felt like the '83 San Dimas Charvel I had around the same time. I truly regret selling it.

I have two at the moment, the Elliot Easton Gretsch and the Epiphone McCartney Texan (not one of the Montana-built ones...regardless, it sounds great). They are both great guitars...that happen to be available in left handed versions.
I would love a Jeff Beck Strat, the Billy Gibbons Pearly Les Paul, and the Gilmour strat if they made any in left handed (and lowered the price...).

I've played a few in guitar shops when I have been in Japan. They are beautiful but sooooo expensive.

Isnt a signature guitar suppose to be modeled after the guitar they actually use? Les Paul liked low impedance pickups among other things. If i remember right his personal guitars were based on the Les Paul Recording. When you say Les Paul to people 99 out of 100 will think of a guitar not a man.

Les Pauls aren't really signature guitars I guess, they're endorsed guitars. Otherwise what is a Slash Les Paul exactly? A dual-signature guitar? The most recent Les Paul signautre guitars were made after Les himself dies, so he's obviously not helping with the specs.
I think it's clear what's meant by the first post - no need to be pedantic about what is and isn't a signature guitar, it clearly means stuff where the guitar is based on the guitar that person plays the most - often to the point of being a replica like the relic'ed Gilmour Strats.
To answer the question, I guess a Gilmour strat would be mine, although I'd want the NOS version. But then, what really is it? It's just any vintage-style Strat, but you switch the bridge pickup for an SSL-5.

He didn't invent the guitar...but he had more to do with making the Les Paul what it is than most signature artists nowadays do. He consulted Gibson while they were making a ground-up design. And he played and experimented with countless variants of the model over the years until his death.

I think when we say "signature guitar" we don't mean "guitar with a signature on it", we mean a specific kind of product tie-in - usually either a copy of an existing guitar, or a guitar built to an artist's specs. A modern Les Paul is neither.
