If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

I look down on all that endorsement stuff. Don't like it, it's just consumer fraud.

A lot of it probably is, but I think a piece of gear can transcend all that if it's cool enough. Malmsteen would probably never touch a YJM-308 with his bare skin, but it's still a badass pedal.

I've actually seen him use it quite a few times. Even live.

I've given serious thought to tracking down one of these recently...

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

Red Special, in black, with a kahler, a series/parallel switch along with the other switches, a passive bass control along with the passive treble control, different inlays for me, and a slightly different wind of pickups, and the guitar be 100% oak (so no mahogany veneer or neck, the oak body and fingerboard stay obviously. The neck then being made of oak and the veneer being oak. Would still want it to be a semi-hollow, and for the finish I'd want a black satin polyurethane finish without any grain filler (I like being able to see the pores and slightly feel them).

I'd want these changes for a simple reason, the original is his guitar, and I don't want a copy of it unless it is the actual real thing (I can only dream). So I'll just have something a little closer to "me".

******! I thought for sure he wouldn't use anything but the old grey DOD 250 pedals.

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

Have or have had...
G&L Jerry Cantrell Rampage - Currently own. Got a good deal and fell for the neck and sound.
Ibanez Phil Collen Destroyer - Sold. Bought for $45 sold for $1000+ IIRC :deal: Bought to flip honestly but I do miss it. I love all MIJ Ibanez guitars.
ESP Hybrid II (Gilby Clarke endorsed these, hope it counts) - Own 1 seafoam green currently and used to own a gold model. Both were also great bargains at the time and filled the Tele niche for me.

Would like to have...
Gibson Les Paul Jimmy Page #2 - My ideal LP
Gibson AFD Slash Les Paul - My #2 ideal LP
Fender Custom Shop David Gilmour Strat - IMHO the perfect Strat
Ibanez Artist Steve Miller - Love Artists and this one is just gorgeous!
Ibanez Iceman Paul Stanley - To me it's the best of all the different Iceman models. Plus Kiss rocks!
Mark Morton Dominion - Love the shape and I've always liked Jackson and Charvel necks.

I'm sure if it wasn't so late I could think of more signature models I'd like to have. Honestly, I've probably owned some other signature models than I've listed but that's all my memory is giving up right now. Aside of a few Ibanez Artists my guitar collection has been through many changes over the years.

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

fender jimmy vaughn strat is the best value out there imho...if I needed a new strat...

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

Either the Gibson Randy Rhoads les paul custom, the John Sykes les paul custom, or the Charvel DeMartini "snake skin" guitar

I like the Rickenbacker 370/12 Roger McGuinn and the Rickenbacker 381 John Kay from around late 80's
These were both limited edition signature models. Most of the McGuinn's came with a built in compressor that is very cool! I think they make about 1,000 of each model. The John Kay was black. The McGuinn's came in Maple Glow, Black, and Sunburst.

Not exact, but it's black and has a Kahler :). Most of the 316 examples were red, of course, but a few were different, like this one.

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

I don't consider owning a signature guitar to be a problem or necessarily hero worship or an attempt to copy/clone another player (though it can be, YMMV).

I have a few b/c I like the specs, though my YJM strat is purely a guilty pleasure and I was curious about the deep scallops. After some time with it I love the scalloped board and it just sounds great acoustically. Not a huge fan of the DiMarzio pups that come stock for hard rock, but they are great for blues rock. Though I like the scalloped board I think I like the back shape even more. I wish I could get a few of those necks with those jumbo frets and a non scalloped board.

I have two -- a Nikki Sixx Epiphone Thunderbird bass, and a Pete Wentz Squier Precision bass. (Yes, I'm a bass player.)

If I could afford to go get a couple more just because I wanted to, I'd get a Geddy Lee Fender Jazz and a Roger Waters Fender Precision.

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

Probably be some type of Explorer/Firebird kind of thing like ESP Japan's Artist series with special P-rails bridge and single coil in neck

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

Malmsteen Strat - Sonic Blue/Maple I guess I would be worried that I might like scallops to the point of no longer liking my other guitars, but one day I will try one.
DiMartini Charvel - Snakeskin
Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul
Washburn Bettencourt N4 - These are sick, sick guitars!
Jackson Adrian Smith - White/Black Pickguard

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

If we're speaking strictly of production models then...
Ace Frehley LP
Gibson Kirk Hammett V
Dave Mustaine Zero

However, if they don't neccesarilly need to be in production...Hetfield's Ken Lawrence Explorer
james_hetfield_explorer.jpg
and Iron Cross Les Paul

are f-ing awesome guitars

Let me top this.

Albert King's Korina Flying V

Good thing he played backwards. I'm right handed

Re: If you were to own signature guitars, which would they be?

I guess I own one that is "sort of" a signature guitar. I have a USA Peavey Wolfgang. I love it!! Other than that, I have always wanted an early PRS Santana model.
