In my Epi LP Custom - wow! So glad I did something different than the usual PAF thing. They are terrific I think they have a very nice clean tone and they have a nice crisp, articulate overdriven tone. You can hear the the individual strings when you strum a chord - nails the sounds of rock that you’ve heard so so many times

i have a set in a prs se, and they sound great! glad you like em. the neck is nice and clear and the bridge has a thicker voice but still cuts well in a mix

Am also a big fan of the SNS set. Have a set in my Carvin AE 185 ad stupidly sold my Carvin ST 300 with a SNS in it. Both were Trembucker bridge sets which are NLA except as floor customs.
Really nice cleans in particular with both together. Take crunch very well and stay very articulate and clear under high gain. One of my absolute favorite SD sets.
Where Duncan is missing a real opportunity with the Saturday Night Special is the worship community. The SNS stacks up very very well against the Lambatones and Suhr Thornbuckers that are all the rage in the Worship guitar community. They are also much less expensive than ether. For those who don't know the Worship guitar crowd are some of the most hard core gear heads out there and spend mega bucks on what is deemed the newest hot thing.

I bought a LP once that was loaded with a set of Lambertones and couldn’t rip those out of the guitar quickly enough. Didn’t care for them at all. 400$ for a set of HBs that are severely underwound - like 4k DC

Agree 100% on the Lambatones. However they are all the rage for the P'W gear heads and that crowd are some of the biggest cork sniffers out there. Got to have Strymon effects , Lambatone pickups, a Dusenberg guitar, Divided by 13 amps and or a Kemper or your not cool. That click is big $ if you can break into it.
I prefer the SNS set to the Lambatone Cremas or the Suhr Thornbucker set. Feel they are better balanced and not so weak and bright. The SNS set is one of my all time favorites .

People rave about the neck SNS, and I agree it’s awesome, but I also like the bridge just as much. The bridge has great string definition and it has a unique character to it that I really dig.

Probably in an LP too, if I ever got one or the other.

I put a set in my Epi Flying V, or my Epi LP, can't remember which off the top of my head. The other got a set of Whole Lotta Humbuckers. Very pleased with both.

Played it for 2 hrs this morning. Getting pedals dialed into it and playing songs. Did some blues, southern rock and hard rock. The pickups handled it all with aplomb

The bridge pickup has a great note decay to it. There’s a little bloom at the end with some harmonics - especially if you of a slow vibrato. I know it’s been said ad nauseum but Seymour is a TALENTED winder. I’m glad he found his calling in life bc I sure as hell have benefitted from his pickups.

I like them so much in my SG, that i almost put a set in my epiphone dot. Ultimately got Mojotone 59 clones for it, but I’m certain I’d have loved SNS in it had i gone that way.

is the coil tap worth hooking up? How does it sound? I’ve yet to meet a nice sounding coil tap in a HB.

i dont have the set in the prs tapped, but i do have a neck sns in another guitar wired to split. i like it fine. it doesnt sound like a vintage strat pup or anything, but on stage, it gives a brighter, thinner, lower output tonal option at the flip of a switch which i find very useful. if i was recording, id just grab a strat, but live this is much more practical. partial splits are always another option if you find the full split too thin or weak

I'm debating doing that with my 335 once things calm down a bit here. They sounded great in my S2 single cut semi, that turned into my drop D guitar for live work. It was tight enough in the lows to not get too tubby without being harsh to my ears in the high end. I've been feeling like the mids are overbearing in my 335 with A2 pickups and the SNS should get me right where I want to be.

That mirrors my experience, good enough to get in the ballpark for a song or a part live, but definitely not going to satisfy someone seeking a true single coil tone.

I still prefer running in parallel to split. Still the same ballpark, but no hum.

How do the SNS compare to JB/Jazz?

The SNS neck is much more balanced and warmer than a Jazz neck is. Not as brash and bright at the Jazz but has a very unique character. The SNS bridge is weaker and brighter than a JB but has a very defined and articulate tone that is pretty unique. Vastly prefer a full SNS set to a JB Jazz set if for no other reason how well balanced and versatile the SNS set is. Make no mistake the SNS set can rock and is surprisingly tight and articulate with high gain. The SNS set is also vastly superior at clean to mild crunch tones to a JB Jazz set. I do have guitars with both sets BTW.
