Re: is the thurston moore jazzmaster made in the USA?
Look at the price and the specs. Definitely made in the U.S.A. Quality wise, that doesn't matter all that much on most models. As far as the basic body and neck construction goes, the American ones are made kind of similarly to the Mexican ones at this point. But with certain models, the American ones are notably different (I would say "better"). For instance, the Thinskins, AVRIs, Custom Shop instruments, Highway Ones, and certain other models (like the Thurston Moore Jazzmaster) that use different types of finish materials. AVRI bodies are nitro over a plastic-like sealer. Highway Ones have lacquer bodies (formerly acrylic, but now nitrocellulose), and I am not sure if they use the plastic sealer or not. CS guitars and Thinskin guitars are nitro without the plastic sealer. So a large part of what you are paying for with those models is the finish. It's the biggest difference between them and the MIMs.
