I know he started the BGWTB tour with a Shiva, and a Friedman, but the Shiva was replaced with another Friedman soon after.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

wonder what the jbe switch does? be usually means brown eye on the friedmans..

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

The "JBE" is the "Jerry Blonde Eye" or (Jerry) Cantrell mod.

You used to be able to get in on the BE100, but Dave stopped offering it once he and Jerry started working on the sig amp.

Watch the Jerry Cantrell Rig Rundown. He and Will will use either the Friedman or Bogners. When I saw Alice in Chains they were both plugged into a Bogner half-stack each.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

Curiously, Marty Friedman did try a Friedman amp not too long ago and said he loved it, despite being an ENGL guy. He was happy with the name too.
:D

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

Gonna move some dead gear and get one?

I've thought of selling a few OK amps and getting a Bogner Helios.

I wanted to try out the Helios at NAMM but I never got the chance... it ALWAYS had someone jamming on the thing when I wanted to try it. They sounded kind of on the bright side but good nonetheless. I try to dial in a thicker tone these days.

I'm gonna be in LA in the next month or so on an amp shopping day, I'll probably stop by Friedman's shop and give the Cantrell a spin if they've got one. People were crawling all over it at NAMM but I did get the chance to take the Dirty Shirley for a spin - incredible amp for classic rock. I couldn't get a bad sound out of the thing.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

wonder what diff the JBE mod makes?? All my late teen years and early 20s I lusted for an SLO. Then, Ive learned that they sound great but not as much as much gain as I thought, need to be run WFO and are very unforgiving. Then, I lusted hard (and still do) for a Bogner XTC. But over the last few years Ive decided that if I could by any amp, it would prolly be a Friedman with the BE mod. (prolly the Dirty brown eye)

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

I can't say I have ever been more excited about a new amp!

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

That small box head sounds like it might be fun too!!

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

wow that does really sound like Jerry's tone :) I dig the dynamics of that first amp too, no volume knob needed :headbang:
