Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

I think all the drool is cleaned up...

I've tried to get Jerry's sound and haven't found it till now! Wow, is about all I can say.

Someone buy this from me so I can afford one!

The Orange, not the LPC

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

cool paintjob  Im not in the market but would much rather have the rockerverb and all the cash over the friedman

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

I dunno man, that Friedman sounds way better than any Orange I've ever played.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

I was messing around the other day trying to get some super thick, warm Cantrell-esque tones.

having a little 18W EL84 amp and a 2x12 is obviously not ideally suited to the task. But I managed to get some thick warm beefiness after a good amount of tweaking my amp's EQ and my OCD. Wasn't great mind you, the voicing on the amp is just too middy/trebley to get that growling wall of monsters sound that Cantrell gets live.

But now I'm gassing hard for a Bogner. And I so cannot afford one. lol

Dude I've wanted a Shiva for as long as I can remember. Hell I'd take any multi-channel bogner. Or the Duende Seco Mojado. That thing looks incredible.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

I dunno which bogner I'd like. Probs the XTC or Uberschall.

All I know is, Cantrell's HUMONGOUSLY thick, beautifully lush 3-dimensional sound from when I saw them a few years back with Mastadon and Deftones... that sound is permanently etched into my brain. Pretty much the most gargantuan sound I've ever heard come from a single guitarist.

Unfortunately, the massive low-mid growl from a SLO and the entire family of SLO-based amps (Hot Rods, Avengers, Jet City's, 6505s) is also permanently etched in there.

I think I might need to save up for some sort of low watt SLO or a clone.

I saw the BDS tour too and I agree, Cantrell's live tone at that show was monstrous. If I could get that tone I would in an instant.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

You need to get out more often.

Just KIDDING! :lmao:

But really: it's just an amplifier. You still have to put in a few thousand hours of practice to get good enough to be able to sound like you know what you're doing through an amp like that. ;)

Jerry'd probably sound just like Jerry through your amp.

So would Eddie.

the demo dudes KNOW AMPS too, usually total monsters that can make any amp sound amazeballs

Used to have a 100H which I did a depth mod to. It was fantastic, but I had to downsize for practicality's sake. I have no use nor space for that kind of monstrous power. I miss that amp dearly. It was so good to me.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

So... Who's going to buck up and buy one of these? :D
it really matters who plays this amp!

I can't wait to see how the "tone king" on youtube butchers this masterpiece of an amp!

here he is, BUTCHERING the sound of my fav orange heads:

What about the 50 watt version? The head box is smaller one that, isn't it?

Thanks... But it's not a paintjob... Each color is hand-cut tolex and placed. Only 50 were made.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

I got to hear these in action last Saturday night... I didn't think Jerry could sound any better. I was wrong...

I got a good look...

nope, same size. and also almost the same raw power too. My next amp is probably gonna be 25-30 watts for headroom's sake, but right now I barely even get to turn up my little 18 watter, and it's still plenty loud enough for jamming with a band so I'm not too concerned.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

Those look WAY better than the white one.

Re: Jerry Cantrell Signature Friedman amp (finally!)

I dunno.. If I had the cash.. Ive been trying to figure what Id buy. I used to think my dream amp was an SLO, but found they werent exactly what I thought and usually need to be cranked. Last few years its been a Bogner xtc or Freidman brown eye or one of these.
