That's so cliche! :nono: Unfortunately, one does not always get what he pays for! AND sometimes he gets more than he paid for.I have not tried it but I have to say those Joyo pedals are just plain old cheap junk.
It might sound good...hell, it might sound great but the quality in build and in parts simply can not be there for $35...
You get what you pay for.
I've purchased a number of JOYO pedals. Some are fabulous (Sweet Baby and Deluxe Crunch); some are decent with minimal features (tremelo); some have good tone, but are quite noisey (American Sound and British Sound....but the original amps they emulate were also quite noisey and this can be minimized with a NR device) and one I bought is worthless...the Noise gate.Maybe the build quality isn't 100% up to the level of the American made counterparts, but the sound sure is. I've A/B'ed several different Joyo and Mooer pedals with their progenitors (the Riot, Sweet Honey, TS9, and OCD) and the sound is pretty much the same. And for $35, I can wear out 4-6 of them before spending what I would have spent on just one of the boutique pedals. For most people, it just makes a lot more sense.
And as far as their durability goes, I've had to warranty two MXR pedals in the one year that I've owned my Joyo Sweet Baby.
Of course I was.
For those that are unaware, Freekish Blues got really popular for a few months selling pedals, even got Dweezil Zappa's endorsement.
They were repainting Joyo Ultimate Drive pedals and selling them in the $200 price range.
I'm surprised by the noise complaints here. I use mine extensively with single coils and the gain past half, and it's not noisy unless I'm too close to the amp or something.
Other than that, it's not worse than my Metal Muff or my Jackhammer. But it sounds better than both.
I started the thread- after waiting this long I just ordered a Suhr Riot
I'm always looking to try new things. I saw the US Dream recommended on Amazon, looked at the review of the US Dream versus the Riot so I picked up the Dream. Does it feel cheap compared to a Boss unit? Yeah. Does it sound good? Yeah. My setup was running it into the low gain channel on a DSL 100 and it was thick and juicy and had some nice sizzle on the top end. Noise? Sure it's a little noisy but I was using my trusty noise gate and that took care of it. I actually gave this pedal to a buddy of mine who keeps a minimum of gear. Sounds way better than the on board distortion on his amp (to me at least). I think it's cool for what it is and if you like it the price is nice.
I'd LOVE to try the Riot. Give us a review when you get it jmh151.
