Just got a Blues Driver and I don't like it that much...

Re: Just got a Blues Driver and I don't like it that much...

Pedals are funny things....use them with different amps and you'll get different results. Some pedals just don't go well with some amps, and it can be the same way with guitars as well.

I can't say enough about going to a shop and checking out a bunch of pedals using either your own gear or gear that is similiar to yours.

For the record...my BD-2 sounds pretty darned good on my Peavey Classic 30 and Delixe Reverb Reissue. On my Blues Junior and Trace Elliot Velocette it didn't. On the Hot Rod Deluxe it sounded terrible.

Before you go spending the money on modding the pedal I would suggest finding something that seems to be at least in the vein of what you're looking for.

OK, I PM'd you my little bit about modding the BD-2 . . . hope it'll fix it up to your liking!
Thanks man, I didn't receive it tho... It's the thought that counts right? ;)

Skarek- Good points.... I found one cheap, that's why I grabbed it....

Thanks again to everyone, your input is really appreciated!

I have heard a lot of raves about Analogman's BD mods, too.

Pedals found for a bargain can be great for trades. On a place like Harmony Central there's always someone looking for something and odds are whatever you have in your hand someone wants.

I picked up a Boss Super Overdrive and a DOD EQ with that exact intention last Summer for under forty bucks total. Turned out I REALLY liked the Boss Overdrive and it has become my main pedal for my gigging rig. I guess that's the worst case scenario with buying a pedal for cheap that you plan on using for a trade; you'll fall in love with it and will have gotten a good deal.

Good luck with it....and get your hands on as much as you can. With your rig you may be shocked to find out what you do and do not like.

How does the BD boost your sound compared to the SD-1? I like some of the SD-1's characteristics, but for me it really sucks a lot of the tone out of the signal. Makes good gear sound cheaper.

To my ears the Blues Driver has a more "wide-range" sound that doesn't accentuate the mids quite as much... It's more heavy on the bass and treble sides but with careful manipulation of the tone and gain knobs you get nice smooth sounds out of this too.

I agree with the tone suckage. After using Keeley stuff I would never use a stock BOSS pedal anymore.
