Just intalled SH-5 in my Squier Strat

It is good, it has some nice, classic rock tones in it. Feels a little stiff and maybe too "perfect" for my taste, if you know what I mean.
I'd like it be a bit more loose, bassy and growly in the mids. However, these are minor cons - and it's certainly not scooped or shrill, at
least not in my (250k) guitar. I'll tell you more after some more playing, cheers!

Simple solution. Put an UOA5 magnet in it.

I don't know man, I didn't like JB that much.

did you try it in that guitar? what you're describing as the variance between what you have and what you want seems to fit in line with what a LOT of people suggest is the difference between the two.

Re: Just intalled SH-5 in my Squier Strat

A JB bassier than a Custom? You sure?

I agree it's looser though

When I tried both in my Explorer, the JB was brighter than the Custom with less overall bass. I'll agree that the JB was looser though. I installed the Custom in early 2002 and it's still there.

the OP said "bit more loose, bassy and growly in the mids". I'm looking at that and not just "loose" and not just "bassy" and not just "growly in the mids"

it throws out a reg flag for a JB.

No, not in my guitar. But heard it in other Strats and it was a bit too much of everything for my taste. Too much "honk", if you
know what I mean.
I'd like to keep this voicing, but fine-tune if possible, just little nuances. Btw, what are the dimensions of the magnet I should
be getting for sh-5? Rough or polished, magnetized or not? Any advice would be welcome, I'm new to this stuff, thanks!

Ok sure but IMO I don't think it's a blatent call for a JB

Anything is a blatant call for a JB. There wouldn't be trouble in the Middle East if we just dropped JBs out of the airplanes.

You might want to try putting a big ceramic in the SH-5. I think that would give you what you want.

Hmmm, you think so? I thought of UOA5 or A8. What do you guys think?

UOA5 will get you something between a CC and a C5.

A8 is a bit like putting an A5 on 'roids, bumping the EQ and the output up a notch.

Is there any shop in Europe where I can buy magnets? I tried Rockinger and couple of others,
but no 8 or uoa5. If I order from USA, it will cost a
lot to ship them here (Serbia).
