My questions it this : ''who needs 15 diff amps sounds'' ? (unless you are in a cover/wedding/bar band)

MOST (read 99%) of the professional guitar players, in original bands, only need one amp (two at best) to get their core signiture tone.
Angus Young, Slash, Pepper Keenan, Jack White, and, and, and, does not need 6 diff amps to get 'their' sound.

Ill add that i play in a cover band and I really only need a few sounds.
So yup, you hit the nail on the head.

I certainly don't need that many sounds live. Recording, certainly, and I can take my time experimenting with sounds without having to move cabinets and microphones around. It allows me to work very quickly. I know Kemper's effects aren't very broad, but the Fractal I use has amazing effects, too.

I'm about to help a local player squeeze some tones out of his Fractal... never used one so should be interesting.

The future is now. Microprocessor-controller amps. I use one in my DAW (BIAS).

They can sound fantastic... if you know what you're doing.

If I were doing a Kemper, I'd clone my amps and haul that around. Leave the valuables at home (Kemper ain't cheap, but
try replacing an old amp that nobody makes anymore; you can replace the Kemper).

So, aside from all the fiddling with the built-in amp models to come up with new tones, some dude with a warehouse of vintage amps
can tone clone them all and bring them with him without worrying about them getting lost or stolen, etc...

That's the point. Luddites and neophytes need not apply.

Rather, the Kemper is an expert at "maintaining" existing amp tones in both response and feel, while adding modern recording appointments, greater power over fine-tuning and eliminating the hassle of carrying 15 amps around all the time to get 15 different sounds.

Everyone should own just 1 guitar, 1 stompbox, 1 amp and 1 speaker cab... that should be all you need, and nothing more. :naughty:

Yeah, it's a little ironic on a subforum for people pining over different amps that suddenly 1 amp is all you should need for your sound.

One point is Church players where they are running silent stage and you can NOT run an amp or at the least not without a real fight with the sound engineer.

Jesus says "A POD sounds just as good and the alms you saved could have fed the poor...."

The kemper gives you the option to profile your "own" amp+cab,

Why TF would I want to model:

A Marshall VS100R?
A Peavey Express 112?
A Fender Blues Jr?
A Crate CA30?

Or quite honestly nearly any amp? Because my personal amp is SOOOOOO amazeballs that the Kemper preset just can't do it? Right....

Am I correct in assuming this are the factory presets, and not things thrown together by every Dick, Jane and Harry? Man, there are some cool stuff on there, including some amps that don't get much love in the modelling world (MP-1, Rockman Sustainor). I kind of want one now.

Guthrie Govan loves his BadCat amps but for the Hans Zimmer gigs he used a Kemper. Too many delicate instruments in that band, so it wasn't the time to rock out.

That's quite a specific scenario, but there you go.

Josh Smith from JHS says it sounds pretty damn close to a Sansamp GT2, so I'd probably be happy with it.

Been done.

Look up the Atomic Reactor amp series. Had one with a Pod XT for a awhile. The power amp tubes added a little more life but not so much that you didn't notice it was still a modeler.

Pocket POD through my Tweaker's power section here. Sounds great for high gain sounds actually but it's a bit complicated to rely on. For low gain it's hilariously bad.

I find most modelers sound their best plugged into the amp they are modeling.

I wonder how many of your fave recorded Uber-tones are actually a Sansamp? COuldn't be any, because they don't sound as good as a Kemper which in turn is not as good as tube amp. or whatever....
