...alright. This was my first amp when I was like, 14. I hated it. Couldn't quite remember why. Was an uncles. Appears to be made in the 60s/70s? Advertises solid-stateness. note sparklez.

...so it's been chilling at my parent's house for the last 4 years while I've been away... finally dusted it off, but the only thing I have to play it with is an acoustic with a piezo pickup... Found it in the back of my grandma's closet back with the rest of my uncle's stuff when I was a cheap, ungrateful kid. (was?)

Also there was a record player (now mine) and a ****ing, ******n Sunn Beta Lead I was stupid enough to let an uncle have. At least I got his car... well, I'm making myself sound bad now so I'll go on.

anyone hear of Jordan?

It claims to be 75 watts (max?) but I'm guessing it CAN'T be more than 15 RMS...

closeup of backpanel here; but it's huge, and I didn't want the screen to stretch ;)

Yes, it's very quiet. And my acoustic couldn't get it to give any breakup whatsoever :laugh2: Maybe a real electric would push it more...

Anyway, I remember it being insanely bright... but the guitar I used with it back then was a bit weird too. I don't think I ever did play the jag through it.

...it actually sounds good. A really groovy, sort of harsh, but tubular and mellow sound. Sounds 60s :laugh2:

Course again, that's with an acoustic... But I really do like it. Trippy trem too :smokin:

Would be good for recording... but it's nearly a whisper in terms of volume... well, it sounds about 15 watts, but still. would probably take pedals well. I'm glad I finally am borrowing a truck and can drag it back down :D I guess I can now hear it with the veil of horrific playing (mostly anyway) removed :laugh2: needs some contact cleaner though.

Jordan was a fairly common brand of mid-priced solid-state amps in the 70's. I remember my highschool jazz band had one just like that (circa 1975), but with orange where yours is yellow.

That was back when the engineers decided that distortion was a bad thing. That amp won't break up until right before it blows up. They're decent quality, though. Maybe it "takes pedals well".

...cursory followup :D though no one cares, do they :smack:

alright. After cleaning the pots out (in a quick and sloppy manner) and using real electrics on it... well, it actually sounds kind of great :laugh2:

None of the brightness I remembered was there. It's warm sounding, a bit round, a bit moreso than I'd prefer actually. I've a feeling it had something to do with the pots being so dirty and a bad connection somewhere in there... And it's LOUD. I'm willing to place it at 30 amps now... (actually considering it's solid state, maybe 75 is correct) and still very clean. Tons of headroom... sounded good with my FAB pedal too.

...The point is I'm selling my Vox :laugh2: I now have this for a decent small gig/bedroom amp, and my Libra will work excellently for anything bigger :smokin:

Cool, nostalgic amp. 70 watts is what it consumes from a wall outlet. Generally, SS amps run about 50% efficient, so 30 - 35 watts output would be about right.
