Kudos To One Of The Dimarzio Techs

Yesterday I was e mailing back and forth with one of the techs from Dimarzio. They all just got back from NAMM and I'm sure they were playing catch up with e mails etc...

Anyway....I told the tech about the problem I was having with the VPAF Neck pickup and that I had it dialed in alot better...He was giving me some cool info, like cutting the screws shorter will make the pickup a bit brighter and less boomy(I Knew about this trick as it removes Eddy currents)...He then was telling me where to adjust the low E side of the pickup,he told me if I cut the screws and didn't like it,that he'd send me new screws....Recommended either the Air Classic or the EJ neck, but he said the EJ neck was brighter and maybe thinner...

I asked him if they'd still swap me pickups after I tryed shortening the screws and he said as long as the pickup wasn't damaged.....I got like 6 informative e mails in a row within minutes about the concerns I had with my new pickup...Their hours are 9 to 5 and here it was close to 6 pm and I'm still getting help and questions answered from one of their techs...Very cool indeed!

The tech was great(Reminded me of Scott Miller)who is another tech I Love speaking with...

Just wanted to give some credit to the "other" guys....Many years ago my experiences with Dimarzio were alot different...Glad to see all that has changed....I need to get the techs name, cause he's really great!

Please no DMZ bashing cause the tech I spoke with surely doesn't deserve it!

I've also had outstanding pre- and post-sales support from Dimarzio. I was really impressed, and felt like they were treating me like I was a very important customer. Even if someone's only spending $60 on a pickup, that's the right way to treat your customers.

I haven't ever needed to contact SD, but I'm sure it would be the same with them as well.

Yes, dimarzio has THEE best customer service i have ever actually experienced. I havent dealt with duncan so thats not to say there's could be as good/better

Re: Kudos To One Of The Dimarzio Techs

I've had positive experience with Dimarzio aswell.

There has been a few times when I emialed them and they responded pretty quickly and were totally helpful.

Re: Kudos To One Of The Dimarzio Techs

I have had nothing but high praise for the guys at Dimarzio as I found them to be very prompt in answering not only emails but phone calls also. I even got answers to some of my question on a Saturday afternoon to help me with an pickup problem. Great folks indeed!

Re: Kudos To One Of The Dimarzio Techs

I've spoken several times to Scott Miller and Alex at Duncan and they were both very knowledgable and very nice....In that line of work, you have to have nice polite and patient people on the other end....

Turns out,I was e mailing back and forth with Steve Blucher(Not sure on his last name spelling)but that's what today's tech told me over the phone...

The tech I talked to today was great, soft spoken, friendly, and knew his stuff...I'm really happy about this!

Steve fields e-mails and phone calls? I never realized that some of my questions may have been answered by the man himself...

I was very satisfied with both techs, but it was cool if Steve was one of them.

Re: Kudos To One Of The Dimarzio Techs

Hey, John. This is cool to know. In all the years I've been playing, I've only called a pickup company for help once, and that was when I called MJ last year about a dead JB I had. She was so much fun to talk to. Her concern about my situation was very genuine and how she called the pickup one of her babies (since she wound it years ago, JBJ) made me realize that she takes pride in her work. No wonder she's been working there for so long. Seymour really has a gem there.

He's designing pickups at Dimarzio, isn't he? Like Steve's Special etc.

+1 to everything said here, especially promptness. Once I got a response in 5 minutes.

Yeah, the person that I corresponded with by email quite a bit was Steve Blucher. Very friendly and professional. When I realized who he was, I emailed back saying something like "I didn't realize I was emailing with THE Steve Blucher."

He responded with "Well I'm pretty sure there are more Steve Bluchers out there - I just happen to be the one at Dimarzio."

I thought that was funny. I mean, come on! this is the guy who probably talks on the phone with Vai, Satch, EVH, Yngwie, Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, or someone like that at least once a day!

I'd say that qualifies him to be THE Steve Blucher, at least around this forum.

Steve holds A lot of the Dimarzio Pickup design Patents, not Larry.

A name so common it's got it's own pickup. Why not the John Special, or Michael Special or Tom Special? :laugh2:
