Re: Lets see all the heavily modded guitars
I got this USA Warlock back in '97. From the serial number, I place it as being made between '87 and '89. It came stock with Grover 18:1 mid-size rotomatics, an Ibanez Edge bridge, and Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro humbuckers. It was originally Dayglo (almost pearl pink in full light, neon orange under a blacklight).
During the summer of '98, I stripped it down, did a cheapy flat black paint job, installed a WD tremolo stabilizer, moved the strap buttons and replaced them with Schaller strap locks. I removed the tone pot and second volume, bringing the controls down to a single volume and toggle. I eventually added the Incubus sticker to cover the two empty volume pot holes around 2001. I added the PacSun, Explicit Language, and small Fear Factory sticker on the upper horn around 2001-2002.
In 2008, I did the locking stud mod on the trem posts, removing any play from the trem bridge. I decided to go with a hotter Duncan Distortion TB-6 at the bridge and add a WD open-face humbucker cover onto the Alnico II Pro at the neck. Both humbuckers are mounted with heatshrink replacing the original humbucker springs. The control cavity was copper shielded and rewired (thanks to Jeff Kempf at Guitar Infirmary). The volume pot was swapped with a 551k pot to allow some more high end definition. The volume knob was replaced with a deep knurled and grooved knob with black dress washers underneath.
The original zinc sustain block was replaced with a brass big block and spring retaining bar. The springs are kept silenced with heatshrink and a piece of foam beneath them. Because of the way I use the trem stabilizer, I use oxidized zinc screws to allow the claw to move smoothly across the screw surface.
