Lets see those pedal boards you are using right now.

Re: Lets see those pedal boards you are using right now.

In transition to the next setup. Wampler Sovereign , custom DoxaSound King of King's Tone (KOT clone), Xotic SP Compressor , Visual Sound H2O V3... to be added when I get more connectors from Lava Cable, TC Electronics Polytune 2 Mini, Visual Sound Garagetone Tremolo and TC Electronics Thunderstorm Flanger.

Current board, carrying all the pedals required for 'my' tones.

The Empress has a loop, all pedals in the loop are wired with the same cable. Tuner is out of the signal chain. The Empress is also my end-of-board boost. It also acts as my board's I/O: guitar and amp plug into it (not to mention the input Pad and the Noise reduction options).

Using both these.

I really like the small board too

You’ve got a lot of delay delay delay... in the big one one one one... [emoji12][emoji41]

Re: Lets see those pedal boards you are using right now.

Using? I don't know about that. The board on the right is my gigging board. I just dug out the one on the left after being in storage for almost a year. I am dreading setting everything up again. There is also a huge box of stomps in the basement I need to go through. I hope to have this rat's nest functional this weekend.

Re: Lets see those pedal boards you are using right now.

Decided to try my BYOC Super8 switcher again - I didn’t really give it a full trial before. This is my fairly stable live board, though the odd thing changes position every now and then.

Signal order (different to layout):

TC Polytune Mini
(BYOC Super8 in)
Yamaha FL-10M II Flanger
MXR Phase 90
Build Your Own Clone Silver Pony (Klone)
Fulltone OCD
Xotic SP Compressor
MXR Carbon Copy Analogue Delay
Strymon El Capistan dTape Delay
TC Hall of Fame Mini - Reverb with my own toneprint
(BYOC Super8 out)
TC Spark Mini Booster

The only compromise I had to make over my previous iteration was to swap out my TRex Roommate Reverb for the HOF Mini - simply a case of board real estate.

The previous iteration had the delays, etc in the effects loop, but this one puts everything into the front of the amp. With those extra cable runs gone, and the switcher taking care of bypass on the board, the tone has opened up considerably, which is very enjoyable [emoji1]

Final note: I’m using the Super8 in loop mode rather than presets, as I like to be able to switch in pedals on the fly rather than patches for specific songs/sections.

I'm on the verge of buying a loop switcher, but not being able to connect anything to the effect loop is what's holding me back. I know the Carl Martin OctaSwitch lets you use one loop as the preamp-to-FX-loop stage, have you tried anything like that on the Super8?

Thought a lot about the how of it, but couldn’t wrap my head around it! The Super8 is a series looper, so I think it’d have to be the 4-cable method like the Boss NS-2, where your pre-amp is effectively treated as a pedal.

Re: Lets see those pedal boards you are using right now.

Funny, I just pulled my loop switcher back out! For the new songs my band is working on I need to have both a clean and driven sound and both require rather processed sounds. I use the Road Rage Rapid Fire loop switcher, wired like this:

Guitar >
LOOP A: compression (Bogner Harlow) > flanger (MXR Micro Flange) >
LOOP B: overdrive (Xotic BB Preamp) doubler (TC Mimiq) >
BOTH (from output of Rapid Fire): delay/reverb (BOSS RV-3)

Re: Lets see those pedal boards you are using right now.

Delay and Chorus go through the fx loop the rest in front. Old AT wireless optional. I wouldn't mind having a true phaser to complete the swirl picture but the UniVibe covers a good bit of ground.

This is my current pedal board

I plan adding some cheapo Tone City pedals: Black Tea (AC30-ish drive), Angel Wing (chorus) and Summer Orange (phaser). Goes from a MIM strat into a Laney AOR combo which is rather amazing to my ears. But the real fun will start with a mic'd Landola short scale nylon acoustic into distortion...

Hartman Flanger is awesome, isn’t it?

Yes, use a looper send into the amp input and the effects loop send into the looper return. Final looper output into amp effects return.

Yes it is. Classic Mistress sound and built like a tank. Too bad he's not building anymore.

Yeah, that seems about right. If that does work, that makes it a lot more viable for me.
