Right! I just ordered a Vox Amplug AC30 from the Sound Control in the Grass Market. They had a demo unit. It is really great fun. It goes from nice clean to hairy OD with the in-between sounds feeling quite nice. Wasn't as impressed with the classic rock version as you can't really get a clean sound out of it.
Anyway, I need some headphones to go with the Amplug (don't want to use earphones). My budget is £40 max... £50 at a push but it will really need to be outstanding in comparison to the £40 pound stuff.
So for most of you mainly talking bucks, it is no more than 80$ (based on the stock market exchange rate) or no more than 50$ (based on some price comparison I have seen between British and US online stores)!
So far I have seen in shops here in Edinburgh the Sennheiser HD201 for £15. These are the cans I tried the Amplug with. At higher settings of gain there was a substantial hum, which might have been due to the headphones. They were quite comfy though.
They also had the AKG K55. Couldn't try them but as they are at the same price as the previous one they might not be much better.
Then I have been at Radioshack and they had the Citronic HP 500 PRO which I tried on a Hi-fi unit. Sound seemed pretty good and I quite like the fact they are foldable, which would be quite practical. They were selling them for £40.
Any experience with these 3 pair of cans? Other headphones that you know about in this price bracket that you liked?
