this one's staying stock. i changed my mind
i thought the bb pros were too bright...nothing that amp controls and pup height/polepiece adjustment, guitar tone controls couldn't fix..:9:

and i love taking pictures too..
its very hard to get an accurate color of the guitar as it shows up differently on each picture..in one pic, the desert burst has a tinge of red on the outside edges..
i can understand why some guys have difficulty accurately photographing their guitars..

the les paul has a certain depth and dimension to the tone that i cant achieve with my strat even when i have a decent amount of bass dialed in

it just sounds more musical..what the hell i love it

not heavy either, around 9 lbs..
its a '04 with weight relieved holes

ever since i got this, im concentrating on my playing rather than lusting for gear..

so what's the point of this thread? show your love for the les paul

if you don't have a les paul go play one and buy it
if you already have one, get another!

and finally the pics..

Re: Man i love my les paul

It took me many years to accumulate enough $$$ to get a LP, but my 79 LP Custom is a prize!
I now understand why these are simply the king of guitars:

Re: Man i love my les paul

Man, those are rele rele nice, dudes!

jeez, i gotta get some pics of my R7 up here - i beat the living sh!t out of it over the last half year (I babied the thing the first year I had it) and it has some big dents and scratches on it and what not, but I polish it up all nice nice. Its my baby!

Re: Man i love my les paul

*drool*.. love that plain top.. that iced tea or washed cherry or something else?

THANKS!

The pics don't really do the true colour much justice...it's an iced tea burst and looks great up close...I wanted a darkish burst but of the dozen plus R7's, R8's and R9's I played the day I got this one it felt and sounded the best plus it is a looker IMO so I comsider myself pretty lucky!

Re: Man i love my les paul

All of your guitars so far are gorgeous! Those bursts and ebony are my favorite colors, besides Sapphire.

No pics I've taken capture how beautiful this finish is, or how messed up this finish is. The nitro is so thin, you can scrape it off with a fingernail (literally). So there are scrapes absolutely everywhere! Also, the whole thing is checked like crazy. I still love her though. Moreso because of the imperfections, actually.

Re: Man i love my les paul

Matter of fact, here's a recent pic showing all of the little imperfections. Look really close, and you'll see tons of little scratches all over the place, along with the uglier (but better :)) black Duncans.

Re: Man i love my les paul

I've been wanting one of these pretty badly lately. Maybe a Dean EVO instead because they're kind of Telecaster-shaped which is cool.

Plenty of wood shaped in a way that just seems to resonate more than any other shape. I bought my SG thinking it would cure my Gibson GAS but it's only about half the guitar a Les Paul is...and i mean that literally, it's just too thin to compare. I still love SGs but they're not replacement LPs by a long shot.

Re: Man i love my les paul

If I added one, it'd probably be a desert burst or root beer.

Re: Man i love my les paul

that black beauty is my favorite out of your guitars..hehe..

i think the first time i saw one was when Don Henley was making his Live inside job Texas solo dvd album and his guitarist was playing a black beauty with a bigsby on the song 'dirty laundry'..

godly tone..

Re: Man i love my les paul

This is my '82 Les Paul Standard. It has it's original pickups in it again for the first time in years. But I had to gut the wiring because it was really messed up after years of pickup swaps and wiring mods.

It now has a Gotoh aluminum tailpiece, 500K pots (replacing the 300K's) and the magnet in the bridge HB is now an alnico 5, that's reverse polarity with the neck PU's.

The pickups need upgrading to some good PAFs, but the originals suit me a lot better than the high power pickups that have been in it for years. Haven't decided exactly what to do for better pickups yet.

I want an R7 gold top and one of those Saphire blue Gems... they're VERY cool!!!

Re: Man i love my les paul

Nice guitars guys. I love Les Pauls, best playing/sounding electrics in my humble opinion. I've got cpl in my aresenal too, but unfortunately they're not gibbos, but I love em anyways.

Re: Man i love my les paul

Hey d1dsj, trade you my Sapphire for your Custom!

Seriously though, I love all of yours and your DC Pro is jaw dropping. Some day I'd love to get a proper Gem Series (with the P90s). I don't know what bastard decided to route mine, but I got it so cheap that I really don't care. :D

Nice stuff though, those are 3 gorgeous guitars.

Re: Man i love my les paul

All very nice looking les pauls. I've always been a big fan of the tobacco and darker burst finishes. It always adds such a nice vintage look with good burst finish.

I'm currently in the process of purchasing a decent bass guitar. Once I'm done with that, my efforts will be focused on saving nickels, dimes, and other denominations of money for a nice Les Paul.
