Marshall Astoria Custom...Head and cab.....

Re: Marshall Astoria Custom...Head and cab.....

I want to at least try a Wizard at some point in my life.

Me too. It's one of the very few well-known switchers that I haven't tried yet. That and the SLO. Considering all of the boutique stuff that I've played and/or owned... you'd think that I would have been able to plug into one of those by now. I'm sure that it'll happen within the next couple of years.

They did one in green so of course i want it. I haven't gotten to hear them in person but i don't see how they could possibly sound bad.

Re: Marshall Astoria Custom...Head and cab.....

Sweet amp, but the Custom appears to be out of production.
This side of the pond the Astoria are about the same price as the handwired JTM45 and 1959 which is less than a lot of boutique amps in the same class.
But quite a few of those boutique amps are made in the US probably more competitive on their domestic market.

I'll stick to my second hand JTM45 RI and save the money :)

Re: Marshall Astoria Custom...Head and cab.....

My understanding is these things are intentionally quite a departure from anything Marshall has previously done tonally (while still inherently a Marshall), quality of build-wise, and technical circuit mumbo jumbo. I'd love to try one.
