Mesa Mark V continues to impress.

I understand where you are coming from and I get it. I think we are heading the same place. I am just truly good with this in the dive bars to go easy on my back and potentially my wallet.

I still have three 100W plus heads and five 412s. If the October Pink gig is on this year, I will be hauling at least a half stack. Also my JSX 212 sits out with my VIP, so I have big bottles readily available at the house if needed.

I’ll be honest…I’m tired of lugging around a tube amp rig too. I’m not getting any younger!!!
I recently bought a Kemper Stage and I’ve used it several times in church and for the first time at a large festival gig a few weeks ago. I loved the ease of setup etc.
and because it was a festival gig I didn’t have to worry about drinks being spilled on it, which is a concern for both of us. Lol

Man, I have a couple of friends who are professional Christian Rock guys and they were telling me that the big boutique pedal boards and vintage amps are going out of style right now in their world -which is probably the place where the big boutique pedalboards started coming into fashion 15 years ago in Rock Churches etc..

Curious to see if this trend continues.

I walk in with my GT-1000 in a Boss bag over my shoulder and a guitar in a case or bag in one hand, it's nice. I have a better sounding board built around an AMT FET preamp (the P2, definitely turn the gain down for church, should also probably get a M2, S2, or SS-30 for more versatility), but that board is big and a pain even in its gig bag now that I'm spoiled (the GT-1000 is small). Besides, going through the FOH at church, and I get my sound in IEMs, probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

What does the big pedal of the Mark V allow you to control?

Channel Switching, EQ Switch and independant Boost for each channel

Very cool but way too big of a footprint for me, it's over a foot wide -I don't want to be "guy with pedals everywhere" guy

I like simplicity live.

I wonder if this is something that could be built into a smaller enclosure...

What has the world come to? That foot switch isn't that big. Let's be real here, we have eaten sandwiches longer than the switch is wide. :D

It took me forever to learn to enthusiastically accept compliments when I heartily disagree with them.

Couldn’t agree more. I remember I was in a band and I was a bit over my head with just about 15 months of playing experience. I knew the songs and made minor mistakes, but I was far from satisfied because I wanted 100% perfection. The compliments were hard to accept, felt like patronizing but then I watched a video and realized it wasn’t bad at all.

Man, honestly I think that's most people.

Personally, I never play perfect when gigging, so compliments can seem disingenuous as you point out, and the simpler the tune the more likely I'll get bored and screw up for me -I can't do 3 chord songs without falling asleep - I need complexity to keep me interested and engaged.

At least it's now the 90W MkV switch, that thing is twice the size of that one.

Yeah, just switching to ground -simple

And the other side of the switch illuminates the LED?

the King Controller on the Road King is intimidating. Lots of relay switching going on in amp. It would have been a perfect candidate for MIDI, but that wasn’t too common in the early 2000’s yet. At least the new Mesa MIDI Matrix can handle it.

That's tiny compared to the Road King pedal, I used to lay mine on the floor and put taller feet on my pedal board.
