Dude you have a BOGNER ECSTASY!!! What the bloody hell do you need a metal zone for? :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Lol, you must think I'm crazy. :laugh2: :burnout:
But hauling around a heavy amp and cab every week is killing my back. The 2 stairs and a narrow hall don't help either ;)
I did that the first few weeks but after a while I settled for using the XTC in my room and for gigs.

I use the MT-2 in my bands practise room all the time through a Peavey Band-sh-it 112. Sounds huge. As soon as I get my Credit card I'm going to send the MT-2 to Keeley. Those soundclips on his site are insane.

The MT-2 is a great distortion box but doesn't work well with tube amps.
Strange that the ' red one' (Boss Mega Distortion) does sound great with a tube amp. It also has stock more bottom end than the MT-2.

Having Filet Mignon every night gets old...sometimes you just want a hamburger. :laugh2:

BTW, I'd definitely take B2D's advice about Metal Zone settings. When I bought my Keeley MT-2 back from him, it was dialed in perfectly.

True! :laugh2:
But not just a hamburger: a Dubble whopper!!! :32:

Re: Metal Zone users?

i tried a metal zone, could not get it to give any real sounds that would be usable live. plus i didnt really like the sound of it anyway.

$20. I put a neat little switch in to boost gain and bottom too. I did one for 51501984 a little while back. He seemed to like it.

Thanks for the information bro! That is very, very resonably priced! You wouldn't have a MZ laying around awaiting a new owner would you? :) I'm in the market for one.

Sorry for the hijack! :smack: I won't do it again. :yell:

I'm not a professional engineer or anything so I can't tout that as a reason to charge ridiculous amounts of cash for my mods.

And to answer your second question...I like my own too much. :13:

I got these settings from our forum bro chi3f, they sound awesome!

Low: full open
High: 12 o' clock
Middle: 1 o' clock
Mid Freq: 2 o' clock

Dist: 3 o' clock

The secret is to keep the mids and highs tamed while boosting the bass and distortion, then turn up the mids or highs untill the bite is just right.

This way I can get pretty fat, smooth and dark distortion while it crunches like a mf. :headbang: Good luck!

Hey Nightburst, last night I dialed in these settings and all I can say is WOW! They really do sound amazing... reminds me of a MOP era Metallica crunch! Love it. Thanks a million!

Yeah boy yous is crazy! Crazy as hell!! :lmao: I'm just teasing you because the Ecstacy is my dream amp of amps.

I agree about the MT2's sound not working quite as well with tube amps when the pedal is set for higher gain. I had it into a Mesa Solo 50 once and honestly i liked it better through a valvestate!

The Keeley MT2 i had (sold to mrid) was awesome but i had to sell it to pay for a parking ticket. :dammit: But i think if i had the choice now I'd get a G2D Morpheus. Plus indyguitarist has a "bogner mod" for MT2's as well, you might want to check that out.

I took a good listen to the clips on Indyguitarist's site and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed.. I think I like the Keeley mod better.

Re: Metal Zone users?

The keeley recordings and indyguitarist records sound like they were done differently though. keeley's clips sound better but they also sound more polished. I'm not sure if that's a fair comparison. All I'm sayin', could be wrong.

Re: Metal Zone users?

Here is my own demo of the Boss Metal zone

Re: Metal Zone users?

Man that was ****ing rad as man. Thanks for sharing.

I had a metal zone once i thought it wasn't too bad at all. I know a lot of guys bag them out but i think if you know how to dial them in you can get some great distortion out of them.
