MIM Strats

It seems that lately I have been really wanting to have a strat in my "collection" of guitars. Right now my only electric is a ibanez rg320fm and I just want another electric thats really different. But anyways for some reason i have been drawn to the strats. Are the MIM Strats worth getting? I have played a few, but its been a long time and I dont really remember how well they play. So for all of you that have them are they worth the ~$400 (I love the sunburst).

Also any other suggestions for guitars that would be a lot different than what i have. I like variety.

Re: MIM Strats

There are at least 6 other threads that I've seen in the last month about this same topic. I think MIM Fenders are the best deal for the dollar right now. There are better made instruments, yes, but you'll pay more for them as well. There are cheaper instruments, too, but you won't get the workmanship. The quality of the guitars that come out of the Escondido factory is very good.

I've never seen such a deal as their Light Ash teles and strats. I played one at Guitar Center and was blown away, I about sold a kidney on the spot. I crunched the numbers for a Warmoth or Stewart MacDonald equivalent, and you really can't get much below the $599 price tag, if at all, unless you really get lucky and grab a bunch of parts off Ebay cheap.

Here's my MIM:

Re: MIM Strats

the MIM strats are currently the best value in the $300-$400 range. You can;t go wrong with a MIM strat. Any shortcomings can me easily modded too. Its a very good guitar for the $$$. I've had mine for years and it still plays and sounds great.

I own a first-year Clapton and a '73.

My MIM fits my hands better than both of them.

Actually, the new Lite Ash Strats and Teles are Korean, but the MIM models are pretty nice too. I have a MIM Standard Strat in sunburst that I play more than any other guitar I have. The MIM Muddy Waters Tele is one of the "best bang for the buck" Teles I've played.

Re: MIM Strats

The MIM strats are a good value, but check out a G&L Tribute. See recent threads on the subject. Personally, I think they blow away the MIMs (especially pups) and can be found for less.
