Modern Marshalls

Re: Modern Marshalls

I had a Marshall 2203 about 15 years ago which sounded HORRIBLE cause I could never crank it, I did not know attenuators existed. that half stack was a monster! but it is the sound:

I'm not feeling you . I crank the evErrloving **** out of my 2204. Mayvbe its the extra headroom, or maybe I have carpet. IDK, but iot sounds glorious with treble at 7. Its a great amp. Probaly all the complaints is cause , like has been said before , there is no good vintage style Marshall after the old 800 JCM's. That, or poeple arent using a good Marshall cabinet with good Celestions. I wouldn't be adverse to trying a JVM though , for a modern metal sound.

I played a jcm800 2204 in the used section of guitar center, on the floor. so could not crank that loud but I did as much as possible with permission of the salesman. it sounded awesome, pure rock and roll! you do need a 412 for the sound of it though. and really, you need to crank it past 5, which is pretty loud for most normal folks.

Ill tell you, in the clubs I go to in Austin (rock and metal shows), EVERYONE plays a 50 watt or 100 watt half stack

like this venue for instance:

No, the presence pot is in the feed back loop on Marshalls. Try switching the purple wire from the 4 ohm lug to the 8 ohm lug or 16 phm lug as an experiement.

Ok, learned my new thing for the day. I'm gonna have to look over the schematic so I understand how it sits in the circuit.
