Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

Well since you are a Oessie :D ,you might get some Cordial cables.
I bought a 100 m barrel ,and am really happy with it.
they have 4-5 lines and all are good. The professional road series are really robust ,but the normal professional series are good enough.
I bought some Neutrick jacks with the same purchase ,and have different cables for my needs now.

If you can solder ,Cordial and Neutrik are your best friends.

Klotz is another good company.

BTW ,I hate Monster for their carnivore/predator attitude against every other possible company on the planet.
They are not worth it.Cheers

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

I prefer getting cables from lavacable.com . The owner is also on the forum. I bought some cables a while back, some the mid range stuff. They even have the expensive stuff, everything is customized from connectors on each end, and the length. The prices seemed way better when compared to retail and international shipping is cheap too.

International Rates:
$0.00 to $49.99:$9.50
$50.00 to $199.99: $14.00
$200.00 to $599.99: $18.00
$600.00 an up: FREE

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

I think I'll make my own patch cables... the Monster .75ft cables are way expensive for 2 connectors and less than a foot of cable... I figured for 10 more bucks you can get a 12' so why not pay. I of course didn't research any cables, just thought I was buying the best.

I'm not a Monster fan, just thought I was buying the best sounding, lifetime cable. So I'll give your article a read, Ayrton.

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

Gaaaaah! That article is just torture! I gave up half way through. "...least dissimilar..."?? Why can't the bastard just say most similar, er... wait yeah I think that's what he means... hahah

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

i have tried the monster rock and i didnt really care for it, was ok but compared to the jazz (which is a little more $) it sounded brittle and thin. ymmv

That's with your gear.
With different equipment it may be just perfect.
It's all about system synergy.
In your amp Mullard NOS tubes may sound a little bland but in another amp they may be awesome etc.

I've had quite a share of Cordials... no matter which line I chose, they always died on me... with minimum abuse. So I won't buy those again.

Klotz would be an option... they seem to have some quality stuff there too.

Weird ,my first Cordial is 3 years old and lot's of punishment and still fresh as day 1.It had lot's of gigs and rehersal ,used at home for recording and squeezed under my chair wheel more than a 100 times.:friday:

Anyways ,Klotz is a great choice ,and you get what you pay for.

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

As a matter of fact, one of my Cordials just died on me last week... I'm done with those.

Klotz are about the same price +- a few € as the monsters are (we're talking Klotz Titanium here)... only thing is I don't know anything about the reliability of the Klotz cables...

Thanks for translating the gibberish as I personally much prefer to correspond in English rather than hip talk. ~ I appreciate you explaining what the kiddies text message abbreviations mean as I generally only communicate with adults in the course of my working day.

I use Klotz speaker cables and they where reliable since 2-3 years.

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

I heard a difference when I bought my first pair. Bigger, thicker, more punchy mids, and that was through a solid state Fender.

Worth the money if you hear a difference and like what you hear.

First experience with Monster Cable was buying speaker cable for new speakers back in '82. Based on that, I tried the guitar cable.

And I use Monster, Gorge L's, and Mogami.

That article is hilarious. :D I use Monster Jazz for my signal chain, Standard for my effects loop (though that may get an upgrade to Jazz or maybe Rock), and homemade George L's for my channel switchers on my Boogie MkIII. I love the Monsters, and the lifetime guarantee, but there's other good stuff out there, too. Having said that, will probably stick with Monster. They sound great to me...
Oh, and I currently have one Planet Wave homemade one (cut to length with a meat cleaver when my wire-cutters went bad on me, lol) between my MM4 and DL4 in my effects loop. It works fine too....;)

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

Ok just chiming in to let you guys know I got the Monster Rock cables... both the Rock and the Jazz sound great, the Jazz is just slightly "fuller" wheareas the Rock has a little more "edge", which fits my playing style a bit better... I mean... not that anyone besides the player himself would ever hear a difference... but in the end, everything about tone is just Voodooo anyway :firedevil

Oh and the Monter Rock Cables look sexy, too... har har har

Re: Monster Rock cables... are they worth the $$$?

Also use the Studio 1000 xlr cables among others, and bought a pair of Studio 1000 1/4" cables to record some tracks using the Roland Orchestral synth module. The sounds were full and had a true 3 dimensional stereo quality to them that jumped out at me.
