Mooer Radar IR pedal in a full mix - hard rock solo

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
And my first full mix ( w/ drums & bass) on my comp in Reaper :argh:

Nothing fancy ..just a random hard rock jam/solo...

Used my Goldea 15 watt tube head & my Dinky along with my Julius Load-box..so that's 100% silent recording (!) Got to thank Dankstar for linking me to the free 'MT Power Drum Kit 2' site. Their drums sound really cool & are super easy to use :bigthumb:

All onboard cab presets from the Radar for both guitars and bass..some reverb from the DAW on the lead guitar track. Everything else was just dry in the mix. I ran the whole thing through an Ozone mastering preset at the end. And this is the result:

It's definitely a step up from my loop pedal recordings quality-wise :lmao: and while I thought the learning curve for Reaper was going to be huge (it is.. still can't do much more than just track stuff & bounce it all to master :laugh2:) ...but basic no-frills mixes using presets and stuff is actually pretty easy & quick. :bigthumb:

Re: Mooer Radar IR pedal in a full mix - hard rock solo

..and just for the hell of it ...V2 (same thing with a different Ozone mastering preset :lmao: )

Can't decide which one I'd like to stay up on my youtube channel ..so any suggestions are welcome :bigthumb:

Re: Mooer Radar IR pedal in a full mix - hard rock solo

They both sound good. Looks like Mooer has nailed the IR game.

Re: Mooer Radar IR pedal in a full mix - hard rock solo

Thanks! I downloaded one of the Celestion IR's from their site (the free V30 one :laugh2:) & loaded it into the Radar & frankly it did'nt sound that different/better to my ears. If anything..it was quite a bit fizzier, though maybe a hair "fuller" sounding than the Mooer presets, many of which do sound pretty sweet. You have'nt made it any easier for me to choose which video though :lmao:

Re: Mooer Radar IR pedal in a full mix - hard rock solo

Damn! ..turns out I had the phase set to "reverse" on one of my rhythm guitar tracks.. I think I might've pressed the wrong button when I was trying to arm a track for recording or something :lmao:

Anyway, I set it back to "normal" phase & it def makes a difference to the mix as a whole & the rhythm in particular (sounds more focussed & up front..) :bigthumb:

So here's the updated mix...

Now ^^ that actually sounds pretty sweet for a first try if I do say so myself :D

Could'nt be happier with the tones & can't wait to try a whole bunch of other stuff out soon :bigthumb:

I used the same drums & bass & jammed some new guitars over them with my 30 Watt Brutus Live head..kinda a rough job :laugh2: ..just to see the difference between amps.

Well, it did turn out pretty different (sound-wise) darker/warmer (the Brutus is running 2x5881's), though it was also a completely different mix/master this time. I think the bass track was quite a bit louder & the solo a bit lower in the mix as well..
