Hey guys!
I've been rocking the SD Hot for Tele set in my new Fender Telecaster.
It's a great sounding set, but the bridge pickup is a bit too fat and thick for me. Excellent for heavier sounds but despite not being a vintage enthusiast I'd prefer a tamer, brighter tone. I don't have the original pickups around, so no replacements at hand.
Any obvious tricks for getting some extra snap I could be missing out?
Besides the mandatory technique adjustments, I already dialed the pickup down to the point of output imbalance, and I reclaimed some clarity back but it didn't fully fix things for me. My Tele does have a Joe Barden trem piece with brass saddles and everything, so that should be OK.
My amp does sound in the dark side of things, but my Strat did OK through it and my Tele kinda doesn't. The neck position sounds excellent so I'm not blaming the guitar on this one. I've also steered far away from anything Tubescreamer in my tonal chain, since they only make things worse in this scenario.
I'm also using some fresh EB 10-46 strings and some Tortex picks instead of Jazz III; the Tortex picks sound a bit more snappy.
Any ideas? I think I'll eventually go with something twangier in both positions, but I'll be happy to tweak my way out of this one.
