Re: Multi-fx units - Suggestions? Recommendations?
Everybody hatin on the digitech.
I used mine for years with no issues. Nobody ever complained about my sound, and there were times my bandmates actually complimented me on it. Ran it a couple of times with another guitarist who uses a higher end POD, and it compared favorably. It is an RP200.
Just saw another thread where someone liked their digitech better than their POD. Pretty sure that was an RP also.
Saw a band last week, had an awesome sound. One of the guitarist ran his gibson V through a couple of expensive pedals, and a digitech RP50 (note: I forgot to ever ask him what he was using on the RP) then on to his Marshall head and peavey 4x12.
The digitech RP series is pretty much regarded as the worst sounding MFX line around, at least in these parts. I think there was a thread a few months back talking about those units and over the course of 3 or so pages it was about about the only thing I've seen everyone agree on, with probably 99% of posters saying they thought it was utter rubbish.
Worst MFX unit I've ever tried, RP150
HOWEVER, thats not reason for you not to enjoy yours if it gives you the sounds like you.
One mans trash is another mans treasure after all (not saying trash to sound insulting mind you)
I've got a buddy who actually likes old units like Digitech and Zoom. He runs them at a reduced voltage to get that dead battery sound.
Very harsh and digital sounds come from the thing, but you know ? Thats why he loves it. He does industrial and post rock so its right up his alley.
Point is its just all about what works for you.
Rememeber as well that most posters on this forum are guys with several expensive tube amps, thousands of dollars worth of effects pedals, a bunch of guitars etc. This is a hangout for the gear obsessed types (myself included)
If you go to an exotic European sports car forum, I doubt the Honda Civic will really be that respected either, though its fine transportation for the money.
