Music theory wise...it sounds like most of it fits a kind of eastern/minor sounding mode or scale (Used a lot in metal nowadays). I'm not expert but that is just my thought off hearing it. Oh and by the way the intro, to whatever this beast of a song will become, is awesome. I love it. It just sounds so evil as it builds up towards the end. Very catchy stuff.

Bach's fugues were sacred compositions. Most of them were written for the Catholic Mass. This tune is very much like a fugue. Something you might expect to hear from Yngwie but with an evil twist.

Like most of the stuff from the darkside it violates the rules of pure classical theory enough to make a mockery of its sacred counterpart which is the fugue of the Baroch period.

So basically, it's an evil perversion of the fugue and the theory that it's based on. Very Holloweenish!

The song is in a scale I learned from listening to Carlos Santana. I don't know the name, but it is just a minor scale(aolean) with a sharp 7th. It seems to fit quite well with the Harmonic minor (I think that's what it's called).

Not hardly! But if so, expect to be in a long line of fellow Papal offenders.

I'm not passing judgement on the composition. I'm just giving you my analysis of it. It is very fugue-like. There is a strong suggestion of counterpoint in the melodic material. I can see an opportunity for you to begin studying the fugues. Since you came up with this idea with little theoretical knowledge, it demonstrates a certain gift in that area of classical composition.

Let me suggest that you not be a Metal snob and poo poo classic composition as being uncool. Many a musician would benefit greatly from understanding how fugues and such were put together. Anyone wishing to study jazz improvisation for instance would do well to study Bach's method for composing fugues. It seems that the same holds true for Metal players and players from other genres.

Fugues teach alot of stuff to composers including:

Techniques for thematic development
Musical form and analysis
Constructing chord progressions
Using key modulations
Crafting melodies that follow chord changes (very important for improvisation)
Counterpoint/counter melody (great for learning orchestration/arrangement)

I was, of course, making a joke with the ygwie/pope comment.

Thanks for your analysis. And more for your suggestion about studying fugues. I can't say i'm too familiar with anything from the baroque period. Long ago i decided that renaissance composers were more interesting, based solely on 'air on a G string'. I know it's not a fugue, but it is Bach, and I wrote him, and the entire baroque period, off. I will have to listen to more Bach when I have the time. This song was actually inspired by Beethoven's 'moonlight sonata'. I'm sure all resemblance has long disappeared under all that distortion.
