any impressions on sfx-03 you care to share? any timetable yet?
We're just starting the beta test now, so I don't have a final time-table. Though, we'd like to show it at Winter NAMM.

Some folks who were at UGD might remember it from the sound room.

The clean tone was a little bright for me, but I warmed it up nicely with a new prototype "SFX-03" stomp box that I was beta testing. Something about that guitar makes me want to play Tele-style stuff. It's super bright and spanky. I still may want to go back in and put a thousand extra turns on the pickup. I'm not sure yet.
I also own a Hamer Korina Special, and my impressions are much the same. I was expecting it to have more of a tradition LP JR sound, but it is brighter, snappier, and has a definite Tele-quality to the tone. I wasn't sure if the brightness was more a function of the korina or the SD p90. If you do decide to make changes to the pickup, I would be interested to know how it changes the tone & what your impressions are. Great guitar.

Cool guitar Evan. Seems like a player's guitar for sure.
I really like the looks of the brazillian rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. My next Les Paul or strat is going to have a brazillian rosewood fingerboard for sure. Play in good health.

You and me are quite different - for me: the more complicated the electronics - the better LOL. I love 3 Pickup les pauls with split switches and 7 way selectors :) I really like your guitar though!!

Seymour often plays a one-pickup guitar (an Esquire). I think there's something poetic about the Pickup Guru playing a one-pickup guitar. I guess I was trying to tap into that.

Also, it'll be cool next time we play on stage together to have two guys, two guitars, and only two pickups between us.

It would be nice to be able to put a factory "tweak" on your pickups on a whim. It would be even nicer to get paid while you watch someone else do it for you. But it would be the ultimate to get paid while TALKING about it. You really do have one of the coolest jobs in the world, Evan (though I know you have to work some, too).

Now you have one of the coolest guitars in the world to go along with it. It looks great and it no doubt plays and sounds great, too. When you get tired of it, I'll be glad to take it off your hands. :D

Beautiful guitar, tthompso. It looks like yours has a little flame in the Korina. Nice!

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

When your pickups are that good, why would you ever need more than one?

Really nice guitar Evan, i'm glad your happy with it.

Thanks guys! I ran accross this thread when I was researching the guitar. All the enthusiasm here helped me with my decision. So thanks!

Yeah this particular guitar has some flame and a bit of bearclaw!

I dig it all around and I'm going into the studio with it in a few weeks. We're playing original stuff in the vein of the stones, TBC, cheap trick. It's working perfectly for me.

I finished playing my first gig with Seymour and the Hamer. At the end of the last song, he came over to me and said, "That guitar sounds just like Danny Gatton's guitar."

I'll take that as a compliment...

OMFG. Thanks for kicking this thread up! That's one hell of an appealing guitar! I was looking at something LP Junior or Special like, and had just recently noticed the Heritage H-137 2nd edition that was issued this year, and now I see this Hamer coming along... Gorgeous little guitar! I wonder if there's a lefty available, Catch U later, I'm heading for the Hamer website... ;)

Edit: OK, they do offer a lefty option on every USA Hamer, at an extra charge of 300 dollars. Yikes!

How much is a Huber or McNaught of the same specification? Of course, you wouldn't get the history... just the wood.

I don't care about history or whatever, all that matters is a guitar that plays and sounds good. I will check those out, although I don't know if either of those is available in the Netherlands.
