my new original metal/hardrock song - tool/AIC influenced (EMG81/85 & DFH content)

nice! this is a big step since the last track i heard from you (dream rider or something?). everything feels tighter, well though out, and the vocals are much better! bravo

the TOOL-ness drops off quite a bit after the intro, from there its more in modern rock/grunge territory.

i like it! if it were me the tempo would be faster and the song would be longer with a longer guitar solo but hey to each his own

edit: guess you arent the dream rider guy, dont see it on your soundclick

dunno why...but the 1st thing i thought when i heard the lyrics was depeche mode, lol

anyways, its a nicely cut song, not really my thing but still, i cant find much to fault on a technical aspect. its certainly a better all round track than ive ever got off my ass to make, lol.

Right on, glad the world isn't filled with a bunch of people with the same musical tastes as mine, that would be pretty boring. Glad to hear your opinion on the technical aspect - I had alot of fun working on that on this song. Thanks :beerchug:

Your the first to put that together and write it on this forum and elequently brought it up at the same time, your a gentleman and a scholar :) I like my 2 minute dream rider song but ya, these recordings are night and day, Im happy with my improvement; many thanks to forum members that helped, Thanks rashayritto :beerchug:

Right on, I have a few other friends that said that, Im working on a faster tempo thrash/metal song right now, I like guitar solos live but for my recordings I like them short and obscure, but I could se a longer solo being a good thing if its tasteful.

Im sure people on the forum are already listening to music they like when they are on the forum, and dont know what to expect from tips n clips DIYers. Your a musician that took the time to listen to my stuff, thanks much Perry D :)

it was kinda scary because at times you sounded almost like layne staley. i listened to your other 2 songs and i like how you have the effects on your voice.

sounds good, I dig it. the vocals are kinda....dry? theres something about them that makes them stand out...too much
but I like the sound...as said above, when you hit the "detachable conciense" the vocals are a fair bit flat. very noticeably so

I like the overall feel

Awesome bro, I deleted old vocals and then did all the vocals in a one take wonder. So this is really encouraging.

You have a good ear! I used too much compression originally because I dont have a headphone amp and thats the only way I can hear myself and my music, by turning up the compression gain.

My standard excuse is: I used a $7 microphone and headphones I bought at walmart for $16.

Ya, Im out of tune in alot of places. I have problems with tightening my neck muscles for consonants and for scream/distortion. Tightening muscles = fatigue and out of tune. I need lessons. With only vocals playing you really hear how out of tune it is. I tried to use vocoder in prior recordings but not this one. After you mentioned that, I just learned about melodyne so I might use that in a few places. You can pitch tune anything and completely change songs, even for guitar, its sick what recording engineers can do these days, check this video out:
