N(U)GD Flying V inside

Walked in to the local pawnshop looking for something, walked out with this instead. It's a 2001 V98 LE it plays and sounds really good, just needs a set up and I'll probably swap the ceramic mags out for either an A8b/UOA5n or a UOA5/A4 set. Maybe a black pickguard in the future as well.

Nice guitar. I swapped the white pickguard out on a '58 V for a black one. Really like that look.

Did you also switch the truss rod cover? I like the white cover, but I think with a black guard the white might look funny.

Don't rule out A4 neck/A8 bridge.

Yeah! Go for all black! Everyone should own a V at some point. (get it?)

AmeriPawn in Valparaiso. They usually have a couple of higher end guitars, but sometimes they're overpriced on some of them. I was originally going to buy the Mesa Nomad combo that they've got, but I couldn't pass on this one.

I've been there. I saw a few guitars but they weren't too high end. I did get to play a fretless bass for the first time there.

I can't comment on the amount of win without the price index. That said - sweet axe!

It was $1200, which would be okay for a '67 style. In a brief search on ebay I found three other V98 models asking $1400, $1800, and $2450.

Awesome!! I have one just like it that I bought new. I replaced the pickups with some gold covered Seth lovers, and replaced the top hats with some black speed knobs.
