NAD _Laney IRF Dual-top 60W SS

There was something rattling around in the new 1x12 cab..so I opened it up to take a look. Turned out to be a plastic zip-lock with 8 black metal protective "corner's" w /screws in it. So I screwed those in yesterday..
 
They even have acoustic foam or w/e it's called (dampening) in there over the inner surface as well....not half bad for $50.
 
Same as the last video but with the two mics/cabs recorded on different tracks panned (40% L-R) including isolated individual lead tracks in the middle of the video somewhere (Laney 2x12 w/ V30's vs. 1x12 w/ Creamback)

 
New Laney 2x12 w/ my Vox Night train 50W (Ballad). Unfortunately I recorded this at whisper soft volume in the wee hours of this morning. The Vox NT sounds better when its cranked a little.I think the V30's still need to be broken in too. I don'tthink the previous owner used this cab much at all...

Anyone else fee like sharing their own experiences w/ the outer Mongolian scale in here (cuz we all have them) feel free.. :

The difference between the Inner and outer Mongolian scales btw, as I'm sure everyone knows, is just two semi-tones and an augmented fifth....lol, who would ever have thought THAT?!?!?!! :lmao:

NO Mongolian scale ..yep got rid of that **** (like Bach and his grubby little pamphlet). While that might cause a great deal of disappointment & deep regret for some (cuz no exotic scales....) y'all can take solace in the fact that I threw in some tasteful/lite whammy trix to liven things up.. :bigthumb:

A slightly tricky/convoluted new neoclassical track. Tone's pretty sweet but it felt a bit stiff/choppy to play (ie. a bit of a struggle) for some reason. Maybe the mic placement was a hair too close to the speaker cone's centre. Or maybe I need to check the guitar's soldering...anyway , it turned out ok ..so here it is:

 
Same thing after readjusting the mic position a bit w/ the neck pup....played like butter :bigthumb:

The part I dig the most is the Led Zep Kashmir-ish epic melody that popped up in the second half. That's the funnest part about improvising. You never know what surprises you hold in store for yourself :laugh2:

 
With Fishman Open Core Classic actives on the hotrodded humbucker setting (push-pull pulled/ ). While the video above was "tapping free" and nothing but good old-fashioned sweeps & shred this one has a couple of good dollops of (7 not 8 finger) tap-o-rama in the mix as well to add another unique dimension (and even more speed) :bigthumb:

 
The Creamback 65 turned out to be a real winner imo. It feels smooth but is still pretty raunchy and aggressive. Chugs are actually pretty ballsy and chords are thick & meaty sounding while solo''s have a nice 3D character to them. It's clear & articlate as well while maintaining a nice sweet vintage-y vibe. The EQ is perfect too.. not to bright or too dark. The V30's in the Laney while also pretty nice can sometimes be a bit fizzy/harsh in comparison...though I 'm pretty sure they still need some breaking in...so lets see in a while.
 
Had a pretty busy morning. First up my jack plate arrived from Amazon so I switched out the speakon input plate that was in there for the new one with two TRS input's. Wired them in series so I can pair the cab up with another cab if the spirit moves me. Everything is now 100% done & over with & sounds/looks amazing :bigthumb:

Then I moved on to my Aria Pro II HSS Strat which came with a faulty push-pull pot for splitting the bridge humbucker. So I witched that out for a new one. Works perfectly now though I still need to fine tune the pup height and intonation...


Took it for a little test drive & it played like butter :bigthumb:

 
Since I got the dust cover off the old Goldea thought I'd give it a go w/ the Creamback cab > Mic direct to DAW - no effects :bigthumb:

 
Opened up the Laney 2x12 yesterday cuz I wanted to swap in my Electroharmonix 12" for one of the V30's ...just to see how it sounded. I actually think it sounds better. The change is pretty subtle though. The fizz is gone/smoother on top and it's bit less bright in the upper mids but still sounds essentially the same. I'll try individually mic'ing up the speakers & recording them to hear the actual difference later today. Might keep it in there or might pop the V30 back in again later..lets see..
