Here is a clip with my Silverado and the Antiquities Surfer II set. No boost, no compressor and gain at about 1 o'clock on the gain channel Just amp cable and guitar.
I kind of held off checking them out for quite a while (well ..the little MT-15 'cause that's all I've seen around) since I'm not a fan of PRS guitars ...but the amp's are another story. I was actually shocked at how totally awesome/unique they sounded ..****ing Brilliant :bigthumb:
Here's another clip with mine...80's metal-ish solo...just some reverb from the DAW..
And (almost) the same thing w/ my Laney IRT120 head for comparison. Used the Wolfgang Special instead of my Charvel. Everything else is the same as the last clip except the amp..
I still have the Laney on it's "plexi-ish" settings w/ the treble knob pulled.. cuzz it's a fun lead sound :bigthumb:
Back to the Archon...tweaked the EQ again ( Gain: 6, Treble: 6, Middle 3, Bass: 5, Presence: 6.5, Depth: 5:5, Master: 1<) and turned the bright switch on for a nice liquid lead tone. A bit of reverb from the DAW. Guitar's my Charvel Traditional Pro w/ a Custom 5 in the bridge..
I don't know if it ever really gets completely 'scooped' though....it stays fat and juicy even w/ the mids rolled right back..
Haha...yeah, I realized that a short while ago. I think I had it confused w/ The Kramer Baretta Special which is the cheaper Baretta variant..while the EVH Special is the higher end variant..
Archon 50 again ..but with the mids cranked up to 3:00 o'clock...
I was afraid to crank up the mids knob, cuz of how mid-heavy the amp sounds generally. But those mids are always usable, no matter how high you turn them up..everything just gets fatter and more textured & (harmonically) complex the higher up you go..
And another go w/ the Randall T2 through the same setup (Eminence Legend GB128 1x12 cab/AT2020 condenser) cuz that last clip w/ the Creamback 65 sounded like ass. Had'nt positioned the mic properly & the Creamback 65, while it can sound pretty sweet , does require the amp's EQ to be re-adjusted to suit it, which I did'nt do either...
Anyway..this is with it (Randall) on equal footing ..and it does'nt fare too badly
