New Carvin love

Re: New Carvin love

The ones I've seen used have always been set up well and played well.. I never plugged them in, but they always had a bit of a "cookie cutter" feel to them compared to USA Jackson's, PRS, etc.. Definitely better made than most Gibson, Fender and Ibanez

Re: New Carvin love

^ Would you say they're made better than most Japanese Ibanez? Or the high-end $1,500-$2,500 models?

Re: New Carvin love

$300 bux? Where, when, who, how, why? Oh, teach me wise master.

Just on ebay au, The dude listed it in a 3 day auction with a buy it now. so i jumped. It was listed with no tremolo but it turns out he did have it he just didn't have the saddles so he threw it in. I even got the original ohsc with it aiiiiiiiiiii

I actually recently scored a brand new gold gotoh floyd for $50, but sadly it didn't fit and i couldn't bring myself to widen the tremolo cavity. oh well i guess i will have to stick with the original Floyd haha

Don't listen to what anyone says, ebay has some great deals.

The opaque color Carvins can be had regularly on eBay for great prices, as low as $400. The figured maple aren't that good of a steal as the original buyers pay quite a bit to get an exceptionally figured maple top and refuse to take the hit that the used market will give them

Some sweet guitars in the in stock section at Carvin.

Those three you posted links to are hot! Very tastefully designed. And it is the customer who is the one who chooses the aesthetics of his/her instrument.

I own three Carvins, and used to own one more. Due to the maple thru-neck construction on the models which have been around longer, some of them sound a little stiff or brittle. But that is something one finds with other guitar makes with make thru neck construction too. That was the main reason I sold the one that I did sell. I loved that guitar otherwise. The neck felt just right. Fingerboard edges and fretwork were perfect. It was a joy to play. Visually it was beautiful. In hindsight, if I'd installed a Blues Trembucker at the bridge, it would have fattened the tone right up. Wish I'd known about that.

I'm kind of intrigued by all the newer set neck models that Carvin has introduced over the last several years. I haven't played/heard one of them yet.

Nice enough guitars but for whatever reason, I don't get too excited about 'em. I checked out a few at one of their retail outlets in SoCal but nothing really tripped my trigger.

Re: New Carvin love

Made a LOT of $ buying a selling used Carvins over the years. I prefer the old shredder neck Carvins from 88-91 to any Jackson!
These are just a few of the Carvins I have owned.
I will always have a Carvin while I have not owned a Fender or Gibson in years!

Re: New Carvin love

Schecter USAs are great either?

I think Someone mentioned Carvins sounding kinda dull. I think that was a phase they went thru where they were doing something diff with the necks. The old ones Ive played have been killer. I had a mid 90s that didnt seem very lively and the newer ones have the mojo back..

So what is it you like about those Carvins? I'm having trouble visualizing what "better than any Jackson!" exactly encompasses.
