True, I was just talking cosmetically it's very familiar. Seems the Carvin is very tempting though, many more features.

Very interesting! Guess it was only a matter of time before Carvin joined the fray with a low-wattage amp. Certainly looks like a versatile beast!

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

very cool, i will be curious to hear how much gain this thing can crank out...

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

I personally like the typo "sweat saturation at low levels".... maybe that's only on the high humidity setting?

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

... I can't get into EL84-equipped small amps like those... their overdrive is too polite to my ears- the penny loafer tone... especially the Tiny Terror... tried one but I couldn't gel w/ that timid sound.

I agree. The Mesa express 25w jobber I tried out was weak.

If these could take 6v6s without too much hassle, I would be interested.

I'd be very surprised if that was possible. If I understand it right, the EL84 has 9 pins, and the 6V6 has 8. You'd at the very least have to replace the power tube sockets.

man i want one, i have the full size V3, i only use it on 50/watts it just kills..kickass-- the small version would be easier to carry & i bet it will sound great also..

Try out an old Mesa F-30 (1x12 combo) if you run into one. That is one mean EL-84 amp, kind of a mini Recto; small package - really big sound, and some really cool cleans to boot.

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

how you like the V3? any probs??
NONE at all, i love the amp, i have it at our drummer's band room, i only get to play it once a week, i have had it about 14 months,(1st 5 months i had @ home & played every day) not 1 prob, my only complaint is the F/SWitch does not have LED's , (i just ordered a custom built from switchdoctor) CARVIN really dropped the ball on this one (3 chan + boost= no led's) i am a gainoholic, & the gain is only on 1:00=lots left to go, CRUNCH's with the best, BTW i also have a VHT 50w pittbull, & a 5150m i like all of them..
