New Carvin V3m micro amp

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

I've been listening to demos for a few months and can't wait to hear some feedback from a V3m owner. Keep us posted !! This might be my next Amp purchase if it lives up to the hype !!

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

... I can't get into EL84-equipped small amps like those... their overdrive is too polite to my ears- the penny loafer tone... especially the Tiny Terror... tried one but I couldn't gel w/ that timid sound.

You have never heard a Zinky Blue Velvet I take it?? Polite is not a word I would use to describe the crunch tones of a Velvet!!
Here is my lil dinky 25 watt Zinky 1/12 combo in a old Hospital complex lobby unmiced.

here is a demo of the crunch tones at my home.

One thing I like about this forum is that there's some guys who don't pontificate about gear, then never buy it.......there's someone here who buys it, then tells us about it.

No matter how many specs I read by a manufacturer, I don't care about their findings. I care about guys who ponied up the dough and have something of value to say about it.

Really? Are we in the 2nd grade? Dude - I went to NAMM on my own dime, covered the gear for the world to watch (oh, yeah, and BTW - I had my videos up online quicker than the pubs!!!), and this is the thanks I get. Some lame ass comment about my weight. Okay, I'm fat. Good observation. Okay, I'm from New Jersey. Good catch. Anything else you want to add? How about the fact that I have over 500 videos posted, that don't cost you a dime to watch!! How about the fact that I interact with those who tune in, am alwys giving away free gear, etc. WTF bro? Seriously - are you in grade school? Grow up. Oh, and by the way - if you don't like my channel - don't watch it. Do you write into TV stations when you don't like what's on, or do you change the channel. Comments like yours kill me. I may be fat (big FKing deal!!!), but I don't hide behind some forum casting stones. Complete FAIL!

Amazing! Thanks BloodRose! Jumping on the hate bandwagon! Rock on my 44 year old friend!

Toneking: I don't think the real problem is anything that's actually mentioned here. Most guys here are just being immature, and they know it. They obviously have other problems with your reviews that are probably more realistic - e.g. Demo style, sound quality, etc. If a guy does a good review, nobody would care about their weight or accent. But if Andy from ProGuitarShop did bad reviews, you bet everyone would be making fun of him for things not related in any way to the PGS videos. My advice is to sift through the BS, find out why the haters don't like your videos, and try to improve from there.

Although I'm just a stupid 19 year old kid. Feel free to ignore anything I say.

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

Honestly there toneking, I don't care where you're from, or if your butt is the size of my uncles barn. I would actually watch a lot more of your reviews if you would shut up and do the dang review. In other words, you talk to dam much! Other than that, rock out with whatever it is you want to do with your free time.

The Carvin V3M? Eh, still undecided. The demos I've seen so far have been pretty bland, but then again, most online demos suck due to the quality of video available. I'm sure once they start hitting the street, there will be a lot more tonal info available. I'm kind of waiting til then to see if I want to get one or get the Big V3 and just run it at half power. I know those sound good! Snakeskin option FTW.

P.S. are you the Toneking back from the guitar.com forums?

Re: New Carvin V3m micro amp

I hope you signed up to the forums for more than just to respond to the people that didn't like your reviews. For constructive criticism, I don't like skipping in 2:50+ to get to the sound demo. What I encourage people to do is sandwich the talking points about the review in between the playing. What mics do you use in your videos?

Hey AgileGuy - don't underestimate your age ... I think you're spot on ... and thank you for taking the time to outline what you noted. It was very well put, and I agree with you.

In response to your note - I take constructive criticism all day long ... it's the stupid stuff that drives me a bit crazy :-). But yes, agreed with all that you noted below. As for Andy @ PGS - (just my .02 on that topic which has come up before) ... Andy is clearly a good guitar player, and has resources (um, like a store!!) where he can invest in what he does. My investment is much smaller in size / scale, so given what I have, I do the best can do. It's like comparing me to Guitar World - that is what those guys do for a living!!!! Me - I do this in my free time b/c I enjoy doing it. So - for those who do tune in - they get that, and we both appreciate where it's coming from. ANyway - thx again for the reply! Rock ON!

Haha - I may be busted here :-). As for skipping to 2:50 ... believe it or not, I get LOTS of positive feedback on my 'commentary'. I know, I know - it's a sound demo, and you want to hear it, but part of what I do is also try to explain it to the best of my abilities. Don't hate me for it - it's just a style thing. BUT, I do play (usually) before & after my talking. And, in some cases - you'll see many different videos on the same topic. Example, if you visit my YT Channel : YouTube.com/LMSJR,you'll see this past weeknd, I shot 3 videos on the Blackstar HT1. A long review, A shoot-Out, and a Short version for those who don't want to hear the commentary. Why? NOT b/c I had the extra time - but b/c I try to keep everyone happy. Thanks & Rock ON!

Oh - about being busted on just replying to the BS comments that were posted - I am pretty active on my on forum pages : TheToneKing.com/wp/forum. Anyone her is always welcome to check it out.

Thanks!

Hey 9finger - Thx for the comment . V3M is a smoking hot amp. Without a doubt more feature packed than any other amp in it's class / size. I hope to get one here soon.

As for the guitar.com forums - I am not sure. Doesn't ring a bell, but perhaps. I chime in here & there.

Thanks again bro. Rock ON!

I don't doubt they need explaining and I normally don't mind, it's only when my download limit gets reached and I'm reduced to dial-up speeds that it's a problem.

Small budget? Says the guy with a Soldano, a Randall, 2 dual recs and a million marshalls in the background of all his videos :laugh2:
