New Dream Guitar Day for $300
The KS (a 356 with upgraded inlays) is woody with a great amount of clarity and articulation. With the bridge pickup and proper setting, you can cop a tele like tone. Notes have a faster attack than the 336 due to the ebony. Notes on the 336 are round with a good deal of warmth. The attack is different. I'm thinking the KS might prove to be a little more versatile due to the ebony. This is the reason why I'm loading her up with Gold Coil pickups from Echopark guitars.
Other than that, they can sound very alike. Both guitars are particularly clearer and more articulate than a les Paul. More resonant and airy due to the semi hollow body. A LP sounds more focused. I feel like the 336/356 can get that woody/airy vibe than 335 have, but don't fully nail it. They can sound more LP and can handle dirt well. I feel like they do their own thing too. What I love about these guitars is the shimmering top end that you naturally get.
Pickup/electronic wise, the KS is rocking '57 Classics with stock Gibson wiring. The 336 is using a PGn a3 neck/Scremin Demon uoa5 with custom CTS pots/PIO caps. Night and day honestly. Just more character and clarity from the Duncans. The '57s are okay, but I'm used to getting more from the Seymour Duncans sets I've used.
I think the only other thing I failed to mention was selling some strat pickguards as well haha.
