New guitar day!

So after finding a couple of small issues with my last les paul, I sent it back and got a refund.

I got a call earlier this week from a friend of mine who works at my local gc, and he told me they just got something in he thought I'd like, so I drove on over yesterday to check it out.

He pulled off the wall a 2015 traditional pro iii, and it was love at first sight.

The guitar has a 60s slim neck, "custom" pickups, (all they changed was swapped the mag of the 57s with a3s), all four knobs are push/push knobs that split the pickups, one tone knob is a 10db boost, and the other puts the pickups out of phase, and a satin finished back, sides, and neck. The top is still glossy, and it's a beautiful plain honeyburst color.

The icing on top of the cake? The manager gave me a free setup, free set of strings, and knocked a couple hundred dollars off the price because I'm there too often haha. So without anymore talk, some pictures!

Re: New guitar day!

Congrats, I love the traditional pro series, I think they are the best lp on the market right now in terms of sound, feel, looks, features, quality, for their price. I dig that plain top too

Re: New guitar day!

I am a true believer in that a setup and new strings should come with every guitar purchase. Or at least a neck tweak on lower end guitars.

With that said, looks like a beaute.

Re: New guitar day!

Thanks guys! I'm very thankful their tech did a full set up and clean out the door, it played great before the cleaning, but it feels so much better after. Let's just say a brand new les paul under 1500$ makes me a happy guy 😉

Re: New guitar day!

Awesome!!! Congrats!! And thanks for the info.. I was wondering what was diff with the TRAD PRO III series. I have a Trad Pro.

Re: New guitar day!

IIRC they are all pretty much the same except some of the electronics. Trad Pro 1s has 57 Classic neck and Burstbucker 3 bridge pickups w/ push/pull coil split pots. Traditional Pro 2's have 57 Classic neck and Super 57 bridge pickups w/ push/push coil split and 10 dB boost. Traditional pro 3 uses the same pickups as the trad pro 2, but the A2 magnets have been swapped for A3s, and they have the coil split and boost and also add a push/push coil selector.
I believe the bodies are the same construction for all 3. IDK about the 1&3's but I know the 2's were offered wit 50's or 60's necks depending on the finish/hardware combinations. For example when I bought my Pro 2 I got the Merlot finish with chrome hardware and it only cma in 60's neck, but Merlot with gold hardware only came on the 50's neck

Good synopsis, there was also a P90 version of the TP1, too.

Re: New guitar day!

So the Traditional Pro III has a slim 60's neck? Interesting. I just picked up a 2016 Traditional with a nice fat neck...

Yes it does! One of the key features for me. It also has a satin finished neck, back, and sides. It gives it a totally different feel than a "regular" les paul.
