New Marshall Amps

Re: New Marshall Amps

Just got this months Guitarist magazine with a free demo DVD of the new amp. There's clips on You tube already!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ATNIoAv_kk

Hear's some news from the launch of the amp on Wednesday from my mate:

Doug Aldridge demonstrated the new VM amps on Wednesday to industry people.
He just came on stage by himself, had a bit of a chat with the audience and proceeded to play a blinder unacompanied. He used the amp with no FX and no pedals – just plugged straight in. He really made the amp sing!
Doug said that he gets sent amps from all over the world and this is the first time he has took an amp out of its packaging, plugged in and said WOW!
He also said that he (Doug) set it up in a rehearsal room in LA and this bloke that’s known him 23 years said you know how you’ve been looking for your sound all these years? Stop! You’ve just found it!

I Wish I'd seen Doug's demo, my mate says it was jaw-dropping!

OMG!!! If that is what he's playing through on that clip, that sounds incredible.

What I want to know now is when will they be available in the stores.

***WARNING*******

If you are offended easily/cannot take a joke/politically correct, please do not read.

:HEAVY SARCASM RANT-MODE:

Marshall has always come out with something "new & different" (as different as new amps based on a company's tonal signature can be, that is).

Players wanted more volume..more BOLD sounds......they came out with Plexis...

Players wanted more gain and brighter sounds to cut through better, they came out with Metalfaces..

They wanted a bit more gain, but wanted it a lower volumes, and they came out with JMPs with a Master Volume....

People loved the master volume and wanted more gain, and tighter sounds and channel switching and reverb...out come the 800s...

People wanted even more gain , a hot rodded 800....they come out with the 900s but they screw up in a few key areas, and many people end up hating them.

for 10 years people are saying "new!...different! PLEASSSEEE?????...we want pristine Fender cleans, we want FX loops, we want to be able to do MODERN sounds, and we want VINTAGE type sounds.....

WE WANT LOTS OF FEATURES AND BELLS AND WHISTLES AND BUTTONS AND LIGHTS SO I CAN GO FROM CHARLIE CHRISTIAN TO UBER KILL UNBORN PUPPIES IN A HORRID SACRIFICE TO SATAN METAL O' DEAAAAAATTTTTHHHHHHHH...at the party in my backyard when my mom and dad go away for the weekend......"

So they bring out the...

Different !

and

New!......

(wait for itttttttt)

2000 SERIES DUAL AND TRIPLE SUPER LEADS!!!!!! with bells & whistles and sounds o'plenty

...and even more people rag on them :rolleyes:

THEY DONT SOUND LIKE A PLEXI....THEY DONT SOUND LIKE ANGUS...THEY DONT SOUND LIKE JIMI, THEY DONT SOUND LIKE EDDIE... THEY DONT SOUND LIKE *I* WANT THEM TOO...PLEASE BUILD ME MY PERSONAL MARSHALL..I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS WHAT PEOPLE WANT AND LIKE...THEY WILL SELL...LISTEN TO MEEEEEEEEEEE

for the last 10 years people have been begging Marshall to get back to "the classic marshall sounds"....DSL/TSLs suck...900s suck...800s kinda suck..we want VINTAGE...we want a PLEXI...BUT with a fx loop..and more gain on tap like a 800 channel switcher.....oh yeah and it has to do it with a MV...BUT IT HAS TO BE SIMPLE...

they bring it out...and now people are crying..New and Different :rolleyes: The DSL/TSL was for you "new and different" folks . Get it? Unfortunately they were only so-so. What can we conclude? That Marshall does one thing BEST and that is: NOT SO HIGH GAIN PRE 1990 CRUNCH (for the younger high gain freaks who think a dimed Jubilee is a nice mild overdrive for some casual blues-work)

The VMs are for old-farts like me. Please just lemme enjoy seeing the first thing outta marshall in 20 years (that isn't a reissue) that actually has me freaking excited. Theres plenty of new and different elsewhere...run along to your BOO_TEEK manufacturer of choice...

go on now.... run along...

P.S. This post can also be used for any Gibson topic with a quick change of some keywords

Marshall=Gibson
JTM=SG
Plexi=Les Paul Standard
JMP= Flying V
800= Explorer
900= Epiphone :laugh2:
TSL/DSL= Billie Joe Armstrong signature/Goddess/New Century Models

:end rant:

Quoting in full, only because I think this post needs to be present at least twice in this thread, but maybe more.

Maybe in other threads as well.

Seriously. Great. I nominate for post of the year.

Re: New Marshall Amps

Wow, by that Youtube clip, I really like it.

I don't think I'll get one though - since it's the amp that lots are going to want and buy, lots are going to sound the same!

Re: New Marshall Amps

No two players sound the same through the same amp. Maybe in the general ballpark, but that's about it. There's too many factors involved, individual style being the one most important factor.

Great Strat tone in that second clip.

I can't watch youtube stuff. I've installed the stinking flash player about a zillion times and I still can't get it working. Java scipting is turned on. Nothing seems to work. Can anyone give me a tip on what to do cause this is driving me crazy!!! I wonder if there are some after market java plugins that will work out with IE 6.0. I don't know why my flash isn't working.

From what I gather Erik, they should be available mid December. UK pricing is approx. £750 for the 100w head (approx. £100 less than the recommended price of a TSL 100 although you can get them for around £650).

On the DVD. Chris George runs through the available tones and features and some of the available tones do sound rather tasty!!!

Interesting thing is, on the demo DVD, Jim's daughter Victoria Marshall states that this is the first of a series of Marshall DVD's introducing new products over the coming months!!!!

I wait with baited breath. :banana:

Re: New Marshall Amps

I liked both video's, but I'm a sucka for the humbucker tones of that amp. Tasty tone....just like I like. I'll be interested to test drive one, and possibly pull the trigga on one.

That converts to roughly $1400 USD, which is not horrible for something of that sound quality. It would be nice if priced closer to $1000, but that's just wishful thinking.

That's a little over $1400 USD, which is about what I expected the list to be. That's sweet.

I think that is very cool for Marshall to have the demo DVD's. I'd love to get one myself. Maybe they'll offer them on their site at some point.

Until they arrive in the stores here, I will just have to remain calm and patient. :) :fingersx:

Re: New Marshall Amps

The pricing of the 50w head makes it very close to the $1000 mark!!!!:13:

Oh, and they look particularly sweet as the tolex is a purple/blue/black colour!!

Re: New Marshall Amps

Damn that is one classy sound!!
Very much how I like Marshalls:D
Gotta get me one of those!
Same mad band we saw at Frankfurt in the spring!
Hehe the crazy drummer made a hillarious solo, drummed on everything in sight!

Dammit, I'm getting G.A.S. for one of these and they're not even in the stores yet....LOL. There's very few Marshalls that I haven't liked.

Re: New Marshall Amps

Yeah, if the 50 watt head comes in at around the grand mark, I can definately see one in my future...in addition to a Celtic at some point.

According to the website, worldwide in January 2007!

I really didn't need to see this thread...I thought I was over my GAS!!!!

I guess I was pretty naive...
