The problem with Marshall doing something exciting and new is that they get flogged for it immediately because it either a) is not what a Marshall should be (according to some) or b) doesn't sound like a Marshall (according to some). Same thing if they go and do something based off the classic amps that made them what they are. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. They can't please everybody.
It's a well known fact that a majority of players love the Plexi tones, JMP tones and hot rodded JCM800 tones. From what I'm reading on their web site and in the product manual, this amp is exactly that, all in one package. What's wrong with that? Nothing if you ask me. They're just trying to compete with a heavy market.
I like the fact that they're saying it's a very interactive amp that makes you really work it and use the controls and hands to get "your" tones.
