New pics of an old Hamer

This 95 Hamer Special FM has been my pickup swap whore ever since I got it. I can't even remember how many different sets it has had in it: PG's, Seths, 59's, Distortions, Custom/Customs, hybrids, Rio BBQ/Texas. It currently has a pair of Duncan "SLU's" made especially for Hamer. They are an awesome PAF type pickup. But they're just not metal enough for me. I'm currently awaiting a pair of "Crazy 8's" for this guitar. I'll post more pics when I get those installed. But for now, here she is:

This thing plays great, feels great and sounds like god. I foolishly almost sold it a couple of times. But I came to my senses. It's a keeper. And since it's not all blinged out with binding, fancy inlays, and all the other stuff that's non-functional, I don't mind playing it. It's a true workhorse guitar. Just like a good axe should be.

hee hee....Hamer..BY FAR..has got the best maple tops in the business. LOVE that crossgrain bro!

Hell... even the MIC Hamers have some really dang nice veneers as well :eek13: :laughing:

I own the MIK version of that...and its ****ing amazing aswell...Though I have settled on the DImarzio Air Classics...maybe one day a Air Norton or Zone for the bridge?

I really liked the Special FM I used to have. It sounded killer with the Rio Grande BBQ/Texas set too.

Late '70s. Before they started doing the 3-piece neck thing.

The earlier ones had problems, but they sounded pretty decent.

The picture hides it's flaws!

I don't recall. I'm pretty sure checks out to be a '79 though. It's one of the ones with the Grovers with the target thing on the back. And DiMarzio PAFs. They switched to something by Duncan eventually, but this one has DiMarzios.

I had the bridge PU from my Les Paul in it for years, but I put it's own PU back in it recently. I had one of the early Full Shreds in there for a while, and that was a really good bridge PU for it. I think I must have given that one away because I can't find it anymore. Maybe it'll turn up though. Sounded good, but it had two black coils.

I was lucky enough to get a nice player condition '79 Sunburst in January. Nice lil Les Paul Killers. :13:

Some few of them couldn't stand it that I wasn't interested in getting more Hamers.

If you can find one that's gotten some use, they're some great deals I guess. I haven't been watching the used Hamer market for a while though.

Just a lil northwest of the toggle switch is a scratch into the veneer top, it's got some checking to it, but man is it a cool Sunburst on the top. There in lies how this giutar came to be named SCS or Essie. Scratched, Checked, Sunburst. :23:

That is my '80 and '81 above. I have a '92 TV Yellow P90 Special also just to mix it up a lil bit.
