New rhythm guitar for recording advice

Re: New rhythm guitar for recording advice

however the floyd rose is getting really frustrating with heavier strings on there, especially being 25.5" scale and tuned in standard E. The back spring plate is screwed in nearly as far as it can go, and it's really hard to balance the tension. I can get it all nice and set up, but after playing for a while any slackening of the strings really makes a dramatic difference to the tuning and tilts the bridge back up a lot higher than regular strings.

Try using the Tremol-No, might solve the problem.

Re: New rhythm guitar for recording advice

I ordered one last night! Looked to be more versatile than the other trem blocks.

Re: New rhythm guitar for recording advice

I have a Tremo-No in my Yamaha YSG. (There is no directly compatible replacement for the stock Yanaha vibrato.)

IMO, rhythm guitar is just a state of mind.

Re: New rhythm guitar for recording advice

Well I did a comparison but I'm a bit disappointed as I think the way I have my pedal set up totally dominates the sound.

To me the differences between the guitars were a lot more obvious when playing through a proper amp... maybe I'll go back a re-record the direct signal with no gain/speaker simulation etc.

Try flipping the 85 to the bridge in the Schecter....I think the 85 and the 89 work better in a mix than an 81 IMO.......

Re: New rhythm guitar for recording advice

I just put that Schecter to good use in the studio.
Four days of recording at 301 in Sydney, 10am to 10pm every day.
The guitar was amazing, although my hands hurt like you wouldn't believe from my choice of strings.
It did however make playing the solos on my other Jackson a breeze!!!

So in the not to distant future I'll have my first album mixed, mastered and released, I'll make sure I put up a link so you guys can hear my playing!
