Putting a couple Eminence cannabis Rex's in my twin reverb reissue. I'll let you know how it sounds!

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

Should be pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to a detailed review.

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

wicked!
I was tossing up between them and texas heats for my twin. In the end i went with the texans cos its gives me 300w headroom as opposed to the 100w a pair of rexes will give...but i often wonder how it would sound with a pair of those fine speakers in there. I love them with low wattage fenders. Cant wait to hear what you think!

I'll give you guys a good review for sure. Obviously they will need to break in before I will really know if I like them but I'm sure they'll be killer.

The wattage headroom is def a concern but I've read of quite a few people putting c. Rex's in a twin so it must be alright.

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

Im sure itll be fine too. its still 100w and the twin is only 85...and lets face it: how often do you max out that amp?
The rexes ive tried in smaller amps can sure pump out the bass end too, so its unlikely there will be flab. They dont take much break in (if at all) either which is great.

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

I wish I had something more insightful to say than, "Cool!" but I don't. So, Cool!

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

Well I got the speakers today instead of yesterday so I probably won't have time to install them until after thanksgiving but ill keep you guys posted.

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

I'm on the edge of my seat, dude. I keep hearing good things about those speakers, so I couldn't see you disliking them, but I'm always interested to hear what people think when they get new speakers. Plus, I'm a bit of an Eminence fanboi, so I'm a sucker for new reviews.

I also went with the Texas Heats in my TRRI and I'm loving them. I didn't think I could get more headroom out of that amp but the heats did just that.

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

To be honest, I've only heard good things about the c. Rex so I'm sure once I work the eq around them it should be great. The stock Jensens really aren't that bad so it might sound good with one of each? I'll try the set first though.

I also just got my flashback x4 in the mail today for the delay fans out there. Can't wait to try it out!

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

the stock jensen in my pro reverb sounds fantastic. i wouldn't consider changing it. of the whole eminence line i wonder how those EJ's are. they are faithful to some legendary model designs with the alnico magnet.

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

So I got them in and it's actually a much more subtle difference than most people have lead me to believe, but it is def for the better in my opinion.

I expected a very ballsy low end but it is actually just a tight, round and smooth low end. Very usable from 1-10 on the knob. It sounds great.

The high end is vey nice sounding too. You can dial In as much treble as you want for the "sparkle" but even with my treble maxed it sounded usable.

The mids are just right. You just twist the knob to taste.

I haven't had much time with it yet but so far I'm very happy with them. I also need to hear it with some gain still.

Re: new speakers should be here tomorrow!

Would you say it is warmer than the Jensens? It sounds like it may tame an amp that is too bright, from your description. I have a Deluxe Reverb loaded with an Emi Red, White and Blues. That speaker is OK, but I would like something warmer and more "complex" sounding. I guess by that I have to be referring to the mid frequencies, but I don't mean more or less. It's one of those other kind of unstated qualities I'm looking for.

Texas heat will fit the bill. Darker, less efficent, fatter low end and plenty of muscle where its needed.

I would say warmer but not by leaps and bounds. I feel like the eq is not overly apparent. Kind of honest sounding but really pleasant. After playing more today I REALLY like them. I want to hear them with my orange now!

And don't forget that their sound will improve when broken-in....probably 30 to 50 hours of at least moderate volume.
