NGD, again!

There have been many NGDs for me lately, I think I should stop. But at least I didn't spend money on this one, I traded my JS-22 for it. Even though I loved the JS-22 and it was an amazing player, I didn't really bond with it, and never played it much, sadly. And lately, I've really fallen in love with Les Pauls again, and as I orignally posted the ad to sell my Jackson, a guy wanted to trade me.

Its a 2003 Epiphone Les Paul Standard. Just plain black, has quite some wear, but it's lovely. I don't think the knobs are stock, but I love them a lot. Same PUs as the other Epi I have, HOTCH and 57 something. They are very good actually, but I want to replace them with Duncans. Almost no fret wear, despite the age. Had a filthy, super dry fretboard.

But this thing... damn. It's got proper setup. Nut got filed and the whole nine yards, it plays like a dream, really nice low action. I've cleaned it, restrung it with 10s (topwrap ftw) and played it ever since I got it. I've fallen in love! It sings and growls, I'm amazed.

If it feels good, and sounds good, it IS good! Nice.

Take off those cream rings and selector ring, and go all black.

that is a great idea! I will do that very soon (once I have some money to spend again). I could go with chrome ones too, but that might end up in too much bling.

It is heavier than my other LP, the black one is about 8.8 lbs while the burst one is about 7.7 lbs. It might be all mahogany but when I checked the pickups it looked like there's a maple top on there. It's a little sad that there's not much information on Epiphones.

I took a picture of them, with one of my best friends, I've never been so satisfied with my guitars. Now I need an affordable, but decent tube amp for rock/metal/blues and I'm golden.... I need something to play with a band/gig later on through a 4x12, all tube for about 300-400€ ... used is fine, I just never really had experience with tube heads, it will be my first, I'm a little scared about that.... but first I need to save up a little (will keep a line 6 head as backup)

Congratulations, that is a beauty. Have you had a look at the pickups, are they original Epiphones?

yes, everything stock on both of these LP's. the bridge model is called "HOTCH(g)" and the neck one is a "57CH(g)" and I really like the tones out of it, for all kinds of gain, middle and neck sounds really good for bluesy leads and the bridge goes well for rock/metal tones

I hear ya on the "Blackout" scheme,I've got a LP copy w/White binding & the contrast with the Cream bits just drives me nuts...

haha well at least my binding is cream. I've always liked those "blackout" and "stealth", sometimes called "gothic" guitars, and I willchange the rings and switchplate to black for sure, will look great, I'm sure
