NGD: American Standard Strat!

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

No part of the guitar is made by Fender.
Not even the logo. It's a $150 fake. Sorry.

You've gotten a lot of freebies and deals, but you got bit this time. If the guitar works for you, at least it wasn't totally off the mark at $250.

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

you're the 5th person to say that. It's just the camera angles. This guitar plays better than most strats I have played, and it doesn't feel cheap like a fake would. so I'm still thinking it's a real American standard.

Great, some people need to live in a fantasy world. Don't sell that guitar without removing the decal, ok?

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

I paid $250 for this bugger, guy thought it was a Mexican, turns out it is a USA made guitar!

You definitely bought a fake, this guitar was sold from Music Zoo...

Wait . . . doesn't that make it more valuable? The same serial on different instruments? Kinda like getting a penny where Lincoln is facing the wrong way! :D

I don't really care, it sounds and plays great.

That's all that really matters. One of my favorite "Strats" is a known fake. And they said so when we bought it. Plays great.

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

Fakes are always as good as or better than the "real thing".

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

Where did the Music Zoo come in, I thought they were a legit dealer of mostly high end stuff. Or, am I missing some sarcasm somewhere?

The Music Zoo sold a 2010 Fender American Standard Strat with the same serial number.

This is the headstock of the authentic Fender Strat:

and this is the headstock of Nathan's counterfeit Strat:

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

It still looks like a great guitar...fake or not. If it plays well, feels good, etc. then that is all that matters. I own a '98 American Standard Strat (pictured in my avatar) that I bought in a pawn shop back in 2005 for just over $1,000 including hardshell Fender case. I think you got a good deal for $250.:33:

^^ This.

If you love it, play it. Who cares about its pedigree? IMO, for $250, you got a great deal if it plays well for you.

It does, and to cap off the year, The guy who has the '71 Strat said he quit music and is sending the guitar out to me as I speak.
